Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is argued by group of people that physical education is an integral part of educational curriculum however, other people consider academics as a priority of school years. While physical fitness plays a crucial role in overall development of a child, I believe both should be focused for children’s holistic development.
On the one hand, supporters of physical education contend that it is pivotal to create interest in books. Since playing games during school hours with fellow students help to keep the mind energetic and fresh by providing a break from reading, which boost interest in other study lectures that could be boring if continue without recreational activities. For instance, sitting in closed room for hours and focusing on written material without getting involved in any physical work could drain energy from brain and make a child reluctant towards study.
On the other hand, people who think academics should be main goal opine that inculcating other subjects can shift children’s interest from studies to other activities. Childhood is a period of time when most of the children enjoy playing over study and introducing a physical education period could make them less interested in studies as they would think games are also necessary. Consequently, they would give priority to games rather than studies which could result to poor academics marks.
In my opinion, I firmly believe that both physical education and academics are equally important and should be wisely incorporated in school years.
To conclude, although competitive academics make child’s future bright however, physical fitness is also mandatory for overall well-being.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both viewpoints and providing a clear opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For example, the argument regarding academics is slightly repetitive, focusing heavily on the idea that games distract from studies without exploring the long-term benefits of academic rigor. The conclusion is also quite brief and does not fully synthesize the arguments presented. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your supporting points with more specific examples or deeper analysis of the implications of each approach, ensuring that your opinion is integrated more fluidly throughout the body paragraphs rather than just stated at the end.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'Consequently' to link your thoughts. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing and flow. For instance, the sentence 'although competitive academics make child’s future bright however' contains redundant conjunctions, which disrupts the flow. Improving the variety of cohesive devices and ensuring that sentences connect more naturally will help improve the overall coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'integral', 'holistic development', 'pivotal', and 'inculcating'. However, there are some instances of imprecise word choice and minor collocation errors, such as 'study lectures' instead of 'academic lessons' or 'result to poor academics marks' instead of 'result in poor academic grades'. While these errors do not impede communication, they limit the precision of your expression. To improve, focus on learning collocations and using more sophisticated vocabulary in a natural, contextually appropriate manner.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('a group of people', 'the overall development') and subject-verb agreement ('playing games... help' should be 'helps'). Additionally, there are punctuation and structural errors, such as the misuse of 'however' in the concluding sentence. While these errors rarely impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and refining your use of complex sentence structures will be beneficial.
