Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the task, discussing both perspectives and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the benefits of physical activity for engagement and the role of academics in knowledge acquisition. However, some arguments are slightly under-developed; for instance, the example provided about 'doing an experiment' as a form of physical exercise is confusing and lacks clarity. While the position is consistent throughout, the development of ideas could be more sophisticated to reach a higher band. Overall, the response meets the requirements of the prompt effectively.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas. Cohesive devices are present, such as 'Moreover', 'For instance', and 'In conclusion', though some transitions feel a bit mechanical. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the connection between sentences within paragraphs could be smoother. For example, the transition between the benefits of physical education and the specific examples provided could be more fluid. Overall, the structure supports the reader's understanding well.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the student to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'holistic development' and 'broaden the horizon', which are used correctly. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'physical study' instead of 'physical education' and 'educatees' which is an uncommon and slightly unnatural term in this context. Spelling is mostly accurate, but the range of vocabulary remains somewhat limited, preventing a higher score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the' missing before 'holistic development'), subject-verb agreement ('physical exercises make childern active'), and pluralization ('childern' is misspelled). Some sentences are slightly awkward, such as 'they may be start to lose their interest'. These errors do not significantly impede communication, but they are frequent enough to prevent a higher band. A greater focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy would be beneficial.
