Student answer (Band 6.0)
Certain individuals believe that physical education classes are an important part of a child's education whereas Others believe that it is more important to focus on academics during school time.I believe that physical education is very important and school should provide more physical education classes to encourage children to lead healthier lifestyles.
Physical education classes is an important part of a child’s education as it help a child to learn the time management skills ,turn taking , team discussions and problem solving skills. For instance , physical education includes the games like cricket , volleyball this all required communication skills , listening to others opinion also and very important part of physical education is it leads to the healthier lifestyles and make an individual physically active. On the other hand , academic part is equally important as it helps them to learn for their better futures including basic etiquette’s , manners , discipline and how to respect other and it is not limited to the books only it includes many more.By the side of theory they also learn how to implement in real scenarios .In addition , better academics help them to move towards their goal and achieve their desired future.
In my opinion , both are equally important for the children as academics help them to learn theory based and about etiquette’s and discipline whereas physical education helps them to live healthier and active lifestyle with good communication skills and importantly working in the group . I believe that it should be balanced approach used by the school as both are the major and important part of child learning which can be more beneficial for their future.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the importance of physical education and the opposing view that academics should take priority, while also clearly stating the writer's opinion. The ideas are generally relevant, as seen when the student writes about time management, problem-solving, and future academic goals. However, some arguments remain somewhat under-developed and lack fully elaborated examples. For instance, mentioning cricket and volleyball is a good start, but the connection to social and physical benefits could be extended further. The position is maintained throughout the essay and reiterated in the conclusion, satisfying the criteria for a Band 6.0 performance.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear paragraph structure, moving from an introduction to body paragraphs discussing both views, and concluding with a personal stance. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'On the other hand', 'In addition', and 'In my opinion', which help guide the reader through the text. However, referencing and cohesion are sometimes mechanical or slightly faulty, such as the abrupt transitions between sentences ('this all required communication skills') and minor punctuation spacing issues before commas. Paragraphing is adequate, but internal logical progression within the second paragraph could be smoother. These features align with the Band 6 descriptor.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'time management', 'turn taking', 'healthier lifestyles', and 'implement in real scenarios'. However, there are noticeable word choice and collocation inaccuracies, such as 'academic part is equally important', 'basic etiquette's' (incorrect apostrophe and collocation), and 'theory based'. Some spelling and word-form errors occur, but communication is not impeded. The vocabulary range and control fit comfortably within the Band 6 level.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The writer employs a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating attempts at subordination and coordination (e.g., 'whereas Others believe that...', 'as it help a child...'). However, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('Physical education classes is', 'it help a child'), incorrect article usage, and punctuation errors, including missing spaces before commas and capitalisation mistakes ('Others'). While these errors are noticeable and detract from accuracy, the meaning remains clear and communication is not impeded, which is characteristic of Band 5.5 to 6.0. Given the mix of correct complex forms alongside recurring slips, a Band 6.0 is appropriate.
