Student answer (Band 5.5)
Several people thinks that physical education classes are very essential part of a child's education. However, there are people who thinks that academics has to be the main focus during the school time. Both views have their own cons and pros.
Physical education is very important for the growth of the child. A child has to be fit mentally and physically both to get ready for the current world. Physical education helps the child to build lifelong healthy habbits, sharpen brain fuction and teached vital social skills. In today's world physical appearance is a very important thing and also all the sports in this woprld require fitness.
On the otherside, parents are more concerns about their child's future, which is why they think that the academics are the most important thing to cover in the school time. Definitely, there are alot of things to learn and there are multiple subjects to cover. Parents think that physical eduction can be done after the school time as the school fee is high nowadays and if the more time will provide to academics in school then children will not need any extra tuitions outside of school which will cost more.
In my opinion, physical eduction is very crucial beacuse the health mind is important to study hard. Only a relieved and healthy brain can understand the crucial subjects and fundamentals. If the child will only study academics for continous 5-6 hours in the school without any physical activity, then the mind will not be able to process the education properly ate the timespam of 3-4 hours. So it is significant to have both physcial and academic education in align.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views—the importance of physical education versus focusing on academics—and presents a clear personal opinion in the final paragraph. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others. For example, the arguments regarding why academics should be the main focus are slightly repetitive and under-developed, relying on general assertions about school fees and extra tuitions rather than extending the point. Similarly, the exploration of physical education touches upon health and social skills, but these points lack deeper elaboration with specific examples. Despite these limitations in development, the main requirements of the task are adequately met, establishing a clear overall position throughout the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear, logical progression of ideas from the introduction through the body paragraphs to the conclusion. Each paragraph has a clear central topic: the introduction outlines both views, the second paragraph discusses physical education, the third addresses academic focus, and the final paragraph provides the writer's opinion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'However', 'Both views', and 'In my opinion', which help guide the reader through the text. However, referencing and cohesion are occasionally mechanical or slightly repetitive, and paragraph transitions could be smoother to fully achieve the characteristics of higher band levels. Overall, the organizational structure is logical and easy to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully communicating everyday ideas about school and education. However, there are noticeable lexical errors, including incorrect word forms ('eduction' for 'education', 'fuction' for 'function', 'habbit' for 'habit'), misspellings ('woprld', 'continous', 'ate', 'timespam'), and awkward phrasing such as 'a health mind' instead of 'a healthy mind' or 'in align' instead of 'in alignment'. While the writer attempts less common vocabulary, these frequent errors in spelling and word choice cause some minor difficulty for the reader and reflect a limited, minimally adequate lexical range that constrains precision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response displays a limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on simple sentences alongside a few attempts at complex forms. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, particularly involving subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Several people thinks', 'there are people who thinks', 'academics has') and missing or incorrect articles (e.g., 'in the school time', 'at the timespam'). Prepositional usage and clause structures within complex sentences also show instability, as seen in 'if the more time will provide to academics'. These frequent errors in grammar and punctuation can occasionally cause difficulty for the reader, though the core meaning of the arguments remains generally understandable.
