Student answer (Band 5.0)

Nowadays, physical education plays paramount role in the children's overall growth. However, some humans believe that, it is very crucial to add the physical class in the school curriculum. Wheras, others say that, they need to focus on academics during school time. Moreover, I will discuss both the sides in the coming paragraphs.

To begin with, the main significant factor behind this is that to enhance their physical and mental well being. Every school would have to add this lectures in the student timetable. As a result, they would learn about different physical activities, which can help them to stay healthy. For example, according to the school principal in my town, they have added the physical education class in student's schedule and they have noticed that students are really enjoying it.

On the other hand, it is important to fous on academics during the school time. Moreover, it enables them to make a good career and getting higher grades in each subject. Due to this reason, everyone has to focus on their academics instead of other kind of education. For instance, one of my cousin, he has mentioned about his highest academic acheivement in the final exam. He added that, they are only studying about their academics.

In my opinion, other education also plays an important role for children overall growth and development. To conculde, learning about physical education is considered as a great source for their overall wellbeing. On the contrary, academics is also necessary for them to achieve higher score.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both views and providing a personal opinion, but the execution remains limited and under-developed. For instance, the writer attempts to present the benefits of physical education and academics, but the supporting points rely heavily on vague assertions or anecdotes, such as mentioning 'according to the school principal in my town' or 'one of my cousin'. Furthermore, the position is not always clearly sustained throughout the essay, and the main ideas lack sufficient elaboration to reach higher levels of task fulfillment. To improve, the writer needs to present fully developed arguments with clear, well-supported explanations and relevant examples that directly address both sides of the prompt in greater depth.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay displays some organization with a clear paragraph structure, using introductory and concluding frameworks, along with basic cohesive devices like 'To begin with' and 'On the other hand'. However, there is no clear overall progression throughout the text, and some transitional phrases are used mechanically or awkwardly, such as 'Moreover, I will discuss both the sides in the coming paragraphs' and 'Due to this reason, everyone has to focus'. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, such as in the final paragraph where the introduction of ideas lacks smooth logical linking. To achieve a higher standard, the writer must ensure that ideas progress logically from sentence to sentence and paragraph to paragraph, employing a wider and more natural range of cohesive devices without repetition.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task, containing noticeable errors that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. The student attempts some less common vocabulary items, but these are often marked by awkward word choice, spelling, or collocation issues, such as 'plays paramount role', 'physical class', 'fous', 'acheivement', and 'conculde' (conclude). Additionally, repetitive phrases like 'overall growth and development' and 'overall wellbeing' restrict the lexical range. To improve, the writer should focus on expanding their vocabulary range, ensuring correct word forms, improving spelling accuracy, and selecting more natural collocations suitable for academic writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response demonstrates a limited range of structures, relying mostly on simple sentences alongside attempts at complex forms that are frequently faulty. There are persistent errors in grammar and punctuation that can cause difficulty for the reader, including article omissions and misuse, such as 'in the children's overall growth', 'add the physical class', 'this lectures', and 'in student's schedule'. Other structural errors include faulty subject-verb agreement or redundant pronoun usage, as seen in 'one of my cousin, he has mentioned'. To reach higher bands, the writer must increase the variety of error-free complex sentence structures and exercise better control over basic grammatical elements such as articles, plurals, and agreement.
