Student answer (Band 6.0)
There is an ongoing debate about whether schools should provide physical education as a vital part of their learning or they should merely focus on their academics during school hours. However, I believe that both forms of education are equally important for children's growth.
On the one hand, there are numerous causes behind the physical education. First of all, due to the advancement of technology, students are using smartphones for various purposes such as playing games, interacting with friends on social media and posting videos and photoes. Which contribute o sedentary lifestyle with a lot of ailments like obesity and high blood pressure. Meanwhile, if schools can organize physical education for all students, then it can bring myriad changes in learners' lives. It can not only give them a chance to learn how to stay healthy with a balanced diet but also provide more ways to reduce pressure on the mind.
Furthermore, indeed, academic education offers several benefits to all students, especially in terms of gaining knowledge. Providing academic education in schools makes children more successful by providing them with information regarding different subjects, which are taught by their teachers at school. For example, if a student is studying a math subject in their school, then he or she will definitely know how to calculate things in just a few seconds compared to others. This leads to enhanced mental ability.
In conclusion, no doubt, physical education has become an integral part of every learner's life; it provides a lot of benefits to them. Academic education makes them more reliant and sharpens their knowledge. I believe that both play an important role in school-going children's lives.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the importance of physical education and academic focus, while also presenting a clear overall position. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others. For instance, the arguments regarding the impact of technology and sedentary lifestyles are relevant, but the section detailing the benefits of academic education becomes slightly repetitive, relying on general statements like 'making children more successful by providing them with information'. To move to a higher band, the student needs to extend and support all main ideas with deeper explanations or more precise examples rather than over-generalising.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction and conclusion, demonstrating the solid organizational structure required for this band. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different arguments. Cohesion is evident through basic connecting devices such as 'On the one hand', 'Furthermore', and 'In conclusion'. However, referencing and cohesive devices are sometimes mechanical or slightly faulty, such as the sentence fragment 'Which contribute o sedentary lifestyle' connecting awkwardly to the previous sentence. To achieve a higher score, the writer needs to ensure smoother transitions between sentences and more flexible, unobtrusive referencing throughout the text.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The student displays an adequate range of vocabulary for the task and attempts less common items such as 'sedentary lifestyle', 'ailments', and 'integral part'. There are some word choice and spelling inaccuracies that do not impede communication, such as the typo 'photoes' and the awkward collocation 'causes behind the physical education' instead of 'arguments for physical education'. The use of vocabulary is sufficient to convey the general message, but occasionally lacks precision. To progress further, the writer should incorporate a wider variety of sophisticated lexical chunks and ensure greater accuracy in word formation and spelling.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The response makes use of a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating control over basic structures and attempting more intricate clauses, such as conditional and relative structures like 'if a student is studying a math subject... then he or she will definitely know'. There are some noticeable errors in grammar and punctuation, such as the sentence fragment starting with 'Which contribute o...' and minor prepositional issues, but these errors rarely impede communication. To reach the next level, the student should aim to produce a higher frequency of error-free complex sentences and refine punctuation control.
