Student answer (Band 5.5)
There is an ongoing debat about weather physical education period should be more focused as compare to academics periods or not. People have their own beliefs about it. In this essay, I am going to discuss both view and, share my perspective about this.
On the one hand, many people believe that childrens should be fit. Their physical health is as important as their education. Among all students, many of them are interested in sports, for those childs physical education is as necessary as other academics subjects. Even the research proves that physical activity like yoga, football and other sports, improves ability to concentrate in childrens. So, physical education classes has positive impact on studies as well.
On the other hand, many people claims that physical education periods are waste of time, rather than shools should focus on the other academics subjects. They says students are at peak of their grasping power during school time. This the best time for them to momorize things, which will be helpful to them in the future. So, it is beneficial for the students to spend more time on the academics.
In my opinion, schools should focus on both, as physical education has positive impact on the students. However, it does not mean that school should focus only on the physical education classes. For better future of the students academics are equally important.
In conclusion, during school time physical education classes helps pupils to stay fit and helthy which improves their ability to focus, however on should not forgot that academics are equally important for student's better future.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views on whether physical education or academics should be prioritized and provides a clear personal opinion in the introduction and conclusion. However, the development of ideas is uneven. For instance, the first body paragraph briefly mentions that sports improve concentration in children, but this point remains somewhat under-developed rather than fully extended with a detailed example from personal knowledge. Similarly, the second body paragraph outlines the opposing view regarding memorization skills during school time, but this argument is generalized without deeper elaboration. To move to a higher level, the writer needs to fully extend and support all main ideas with more detailed reasoning and specific illustrative examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear paragraph structure, utilizing standard introductory, body, and concluding paragraphs. Cohesive devices are employed to signal transitions between ideas, such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion'. However, the progression is slightly mechanical at times, and referencing is not always entirely clear or natural. For instance, the transition between sentences within paragraphs can feel abrupt, and the cohesive devices used lean toward basic formulas rather than flexible, varied referencing. To achieve a higher level, the writer needs to ensure a smoother, more sophisticated flow of ideas throughout the text, making the logical relationships between sentences completely seamless and unobtrusive.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, successfully communicating the writer's basic points, but it is constrained by a limited range and noticeable errors. The student attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'concentration' and 'beneficial', but also makes numerous spelling and word-choice errors that reflect a basic lexical control. Examples of errors include 'debat' instead of debate, 'weather' instead of whether, 'compare' instead of comparison, 'childs' and 'childrens' instead of children, 'shools' instead of schools, 'momorize' instead of memorize, and 'helthy' instead of healthy. These errors do not completely impede communication, but they restrict the response to a modest level. To improve, the writer must expand their lexical repertoire and eliminate basic spelling and word-formation mistakes.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writing displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures like conditional and comparative clauses. However, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that persist throughout the text. Issues include problems with subject-verb agreement and article usage, such as 'physical education period should be more focused as compare to', 'for those childs physical education is', and 'physical education classes has positive impact'. Additionally, punctuation and phrasing show awkward constructions like 'this the best time for them'. While these errors rarely completely impede communication, they occur regularly and demonstrate limited control over more complex grammatical patterns. To reach a higher standard, the writer needs to improve structural accuracy and ensure precise control over basic grammatical agreements and word forms.
