Give reasons for your answer, and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
In this contemporary era, many individuals prefer the physical education as a significant subject while others controvert the same and believe academic courses hold more weightage in the education. In my opinion, both are equally important for the overall growth of the child.
On the first hand, physical education create awareness not only about the physical fitness but also helps to mental growth as well. By this, subject students are fully engaged in the sports activities through which they could learn numerous skills which are important in the academic subjects and precautions to minimise the risk of any kind of injury in their life. For instance, individuals could learn about their body and its function by which they become a fit pupils physically as well as mentally. Resultantly, they can easily focus on their academic courses.
On the other hand, school has limited time to cover the whole academic syllabus during the school time. Theoretical subjects have vast syllabus which demands proper engagement with appropriate time. For example, if students indulge in the extra curriculam activities, they will not be able to complete the chapters on time. Ergo, due to, incomplete academic courses learners will not qualify the standard and also repeat that same class again for a year which is considered as fully wastage of the time.
To conclude, although, marks are only obtained by theoretical subjects, nobody can ignore the significance of the physical education in the students life which has plausible results in the overall growth of the pupil.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both views and state a clear position: “both are equally important for the overall growth of the child.” The two body paragraphs also give relevant reasons, including fitness and concentration on one side, and limited school time and syllabus demands on the other. However, the discussion is not equally developed: the academic argument relies mainly on the claim that extracurricular activities may prevent students from finishing chapters, without considering how schools might balance the subjects or why academic study should take priority. Some supporting points are also unclear, such as how sports teach “precautions” against injury. Develop each side with a more specific explanation or example, and make your final opinion more directly answer the choice between the two priorities.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a conclusion. The progression from physical education to academic priorities is easy to follow, and signposts such as “On the other hand” help distinguish the arguments. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some flexibility in linking ideas. However, several transitions feel mechanical or awkward, including “On the first hand,” “By this,” and “Ergo, due to,” while the conclusion begins with a confusing “although” construction. Some references, such as “the same,” are not immediately clear. Use simpler, more natural links and ensure each sentence connects explicitly to the point before it.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “physical fitness,” “academic syllabus,” “engaged,” and “overall growth.” There are also attempts at less common or formal expressions, such as “significance” and “plausible results,” which show ambition. However, several choices are inaccurate or unnatural and sometimes make the meaning less precise: “controvert the same,” “weightage,” “fully wastage,” and “fit pupils” do not fit their contexts well. Spelling and word-form issues such as “curriculam” also reduce accuracy. Aim for natural collocations rather than overly formal wording, and check that each chosen word expresses the intended relationship clearly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a conditional sentence beginning “if students indulge” and a concession in the conclusion. The main ideas are generally understandable, but some grammatical errors remain across the response. For example, “physical education create awareness” needs subject–verb agreement, and “helps to mental growth” has an incorrect grammatical pattern. Articles and plurals are also inconsistent in phrases such as “a fit pupils” and “in the students life.” The final sentence’s “although” clause is not completed in a clear grammatical structure. Review agreement, article use, and clause construction, then proofread longer sentences to ensure their parts fit together.
