Student answer (Band 5.0)

Getting physical education is crucial step in children's growth accrding to some people but other think in contrast. This essay will explain weather the physical education is important in childrens growth or their main focus shoud only be limited to their academics.

To begin with, physical education is important as children do get a chance to learn variety of skills. Learning all the basic life skills will make them self sufficient and they try to adapt and survive in different environments. However, skills they had learned in their childhood might become their profession in coming future. There are plenty of people around us who are good in a specific thing and they adapted it as their peofession. It is obvious they they are going to perform extraordinary in those skills which they enjoy doing. For example, my friend learned how to bake cakes since her childhood and later on she choose baking as her profession and now her bakery is famous in our city.

Although, during the early school years of children, they face a huge pressure to get good grades. They feel pressureised and their mental health also effects when they are being told to do everything. While learning physical skills their academic studies disturb more often as they cannot handle to manage their time. Furthermore, their focus from academic studies get alleviated as they started to spent more time in games and extra co-curricular activities which will make them struggle in their studies at the end of the academic year.

In conclusion, physical education is important for children growth and mental well-being but if it is properly watched by their parents and teachers.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You address the topic by explaining why physical education can support children’s development and why academic study may be prioritised. The baking example gives one relevant illustration, and the conclusion indicates that you favour physical education when it is supervised. However, the discussion of the academic-focused view is mainly a list of possible problems, rather than a developed explanation of why people consider academic learning more important. Your position is also not clear until the conclusion, and the final condition about parental and teacher supervision is not explained. To strengthen the response, state your opinion in the introduction and develop both views with clear reasons and examples that directly answer the question.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting contrasting points, and a conclusion. Transitions such as “To begin with,” “However,” and “Furthermore” help signal changes in direction. Nevertheless, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear: the first body paragraph moves from life skills to future professions and then to baking without fully connecting these points. The second paragraph also shifts from pressure and mental health to time management and extracurricular activities. Some linking words are used awkwardly, including “Although” at the start of a sentence that does not complete a contrast. Organise each paragraph around one main claim, then explain and illustrate it in a clear sequence.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “physical education,” “life skills,” “mental health,” and “academic studies,” which helps communicate the subject. There are also attempts at less common expressions, such as “self sufficient” and “adapt and survive,” but several choices are inaccurate or unnatural and sometimes make the meaning harder to follow. Examples include “their focus … get alleviated,” “their academic studies disturb,” and “pressureised.” Spelling errors such as “accrding,” “peofession,” and “shoud” are noticeable. Aim for accurate, natural collocations and check spelling carefully; simpler precise wording is more effective than an ambitious phrase used incorrectly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a relative clause in “skills they had learned in their childhood might become their profession” and a conditional idea in the conclusion. However, complex structures are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to interpret. For example, “other think in contrast” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “they choose baking” uses an incorrect verb form. Articles, plurals, and sentence construction also need attention, as in “physical education is crucial step” and “for children growth.” The final sentence beginning “In conclusion” is incomplete as a full conclusion. Practise building accurate sentences first, then add subordinate clauses and check agreement, tense, and punctuation.
