Student answer (Band 5.5)

A few people think that the physical education is prominent part in education while others believe that it is significant to pay more attention to other acedimic subjects for children. My own view on this matter is that there should be proper balance schedule for children to do everything by time to time.

On the one hand, some say this because having knowledge about body is extremely important in today's fast-paced world where everything is growing so fast. For instance, after covid-19 a study was carried out which showed that those who were already having physical issues such as weak immune system and lack of exercise, they were more weaker as compared to those who were doing physical activites in their day-to-day life. Consequently, giving education on this particular subject to children is equally important as studying main other subjects. As children can only get motivated about doing such physical activites when they will start learning from their school level.

On the other hand, others say this because they feel that instead of studying this, students can give thier valuable time to main stream subjects which will assist them to make their future more brighter depending on their field subject or interest. However, school is that stage where children actually start to identify about their strenghtens and weaknesses. And students can decide only when they have enough resources to select like from phyical education to other main subjects.

To sum up, I would say that it is significant for teachers to introduce children about physical education as equally as other subjects. So students can have enough knowlledge about their body and health.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You discuss both perspectives and state a position: you favour giving physical education importance alongside academic subjects. The two body paragraphs also include relevant reasons, such as health and students’ future choices. However, the position is not fully consistent: the introduction calls for a “proper balance,” while the conclusion mainly argues for physical education to be treated equally, without clearly explaining how this balance should work. The health example is relevant but relies on a broad, unsupported reference to a post-COVID study, and the academic argument is only briefly developed. To strengthen the response, explain more specifically how physical education benefits learning or wellbeing, and give a clearer reason why academic study also deserves protected time.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “To sum up” help signal the progression, so the reader can follow the main discussion. Some links between ideas are less clear or feel mechanical. For example, the final sentence of the second body paragraph—“students can decide only when they have enough resources to select”—does not clearly explain how this supports the academic-focused view. The reference “studying this” is also vague. Improve cohesion by making each paragraph’s central claim explicit, then linking each example directly to that claim and using clearer references instead of relying mainly on set phrases.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “physical education,” “immune system,” “day-to-day life,” and “strengths and weaknesses.” These choices make the subject clear, and some phrases show an attempt to express more specific ideas. However, several inaccurate or unnatural expressions limit precision, such as “prominent part in education,” “main other subjects,” and “more brighter.” Spelling errors—including “acedimic,” “activites,” and “strenghtens”—also reduce control. Aim for accurate collocations and check spelling carefully; for example, use “an important part of education,” “core academic subjects,” and “identify their strengths and weaknesses.” This would make your ideas sound more natural and precise without requiring unnecessarily complex vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a relative clause in “a study was carried out which showed that…” and a conditional structure in “students can decide only when…”. The overall meaning is generally understandable, but some sentence structures and grammatical forms are inaccurate. For instance, “those who were already having physical issues … they were” repeats the subject, while “they will start learning” is awkwardly formed in the sentence beginning “As children can only get motivated…”. There are also errors with articles, agreement, and punctuation, as in “the physical education is” and the missing space after “subjects.” Work on building complete, direct sentences and checking subject–verb agreement, articles, and clause structure; this will make your complex ideas easier to follow.
