Student answer (Band 5.0)

For a bright future physical education and academic education both are important for a child.physical education gives a child a strong source of communication with friends and teacher on the other hand academic education only gives us knownledge not the real life examples. a child who is growing and wants a bright future have to learn both because only academic knowledge is not enough for progress with the world also physical knowledge is not enough that's why every child should learn th both.

As a big brother i try to give lessons to my younger brother both. We want to sent him abroad for higher studies after his HSC examination . If we only give him the physicla knowledge then he cannot make it up with the foreigners and if we give him only the academic knowledge then he can't make it up with new people . That's why both are the important for every child who wants a bright future.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You give a clear general opinion that children need both physical education and academic study, and your example about supporting your younger brother is relevant. However, the discussion of the two views is very brief: the benefits of academic learning are reduced to “knownledge,” while physical education is mainly linked to communication with friends and teachers. The example about studying abroad is also not fully explained, so it does not show clearly how each subject prepares him. The response is substantially below the required 250 words, which leaves the task only partially addressed. To strengthen it, explain the distinct benefits of each view, develop your example, and state your position in a fuller conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is a basic line of thought: you introduce the need for both types of education and then give a personal example. The phrases “on the other hand” and “That’s why” show an attempt to connect contrasting ideas and draw a conclusion. However, the response is presented as two long blocks with little paragraph development, and the progression between points is limited. Some links are unclear, such as how physical education creates “a strong source of communication” and how academic knowledge affects meeting new people. Use separate paragraphs for the two views and your opinion, and connect each claim to an explanation or example. More precise referencing and a wider range of linking expressions would make the argument easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

Your vocabulary is basic but sufficient to communicate the central message, with relevant terms such as “physical education,” “academic knowledge,” and “higher studies.” However, several choices are inaccurate or unnatural and sometimes make the meaning difficult to interpret. For example, “a strong source of communication” does not clearly express the benefit you intend, and “make it up with the foreigners” is not an appropriate phrase for adapting to people from another country. There are also spelling errors, including “knownledge” and “physicla.” Aim for more precise education-related vocabulary and check spelling carefully. Using accurate phrases such as “develop social skills” and “adapt to a new environment” would make your ideas clearer.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You communicate your main point using mostly simple sentences, and you attempt to combine ideas with clauses such as “If we only give him…” and “because only academic knowledge is not enough.” These attempts show some range, but sentence structures are often faulty or run together, which can make relationships between ideas unclear. For instance, the opening joins several statements without appropriate sentence boundaries, and “a child who is growing and wants a bright future have to learn both” has a subject–verb agreement error. Articles and sentence punctuation are also inconsistent, as in “both are the important.” Practise accurate sentence boundaries, agreement, and article use, then build longer sentences from these controlled forms.
