Student answer (Band 6.0)

While many people believe, in a school it is prominent to teach physical education to all students, others argue that focusing on core academics is way more important during school time. I opine that possessing knowledge for both physical fitness and basic subjects holds vital role in a students' learning stage.

Physical education includes sports like soccer, swimming, running, martail arts and more. Although, every child studies core subjects such as maths, science, and economics during their school time, learning sports skills sometimes gives birth to renowned sports personalities. For instance Sachin Tendulkar, who failed in his eighth standard and chose the route of sports, has now known as God of Cricket. Furthermore, physical education does not only provide theoritcal knowledge but also helps an individual to stay healthy and active.

Because of hectic schedule a pupil possess nowadays, people believe focusing on academics during school time should be prioritized. It is widely considered that about 90% of people select jobs and businesses as their career which require academic knowledge rather than physical education. Even though knoweldge about sports plays vital role in an individuals life, subjects like maths and science are the future of our society. If the teachers focus on teaching these physical activities, the prime knowledge of everyday life remained uncovered.

I believe that schools can use any of these two approaches where they can find a students' interest and encourage him to go in his desired field either sports or academics. Second, hours should be divided based on the importance of physical education and academic education.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both perspectives and state your view in the opening, arguing that physical fitness and academic knowledge both matter. The discussion includes relevant points: sports can support health and lead to sporting careers, while academic subjects prepare many people for work and contribute to society. The Sachin Tendulkar example helps illustrate the first view. However, some claims are asserted rather than explained, such as the estimate that 90% of people choose careers requiring academic knowledge, and the point that everyday knowledge would remain uncovered is not clearly connected to reducing physical education. Your final proposal to divide school hours is relevant, but it could be developed with a clearer explanation of how schools should balance the subjects and why. This leaves some parts less fully supported than others.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph for each viewpoint, and a concluding opinion. This makes the discussion easy to follow, and linking expressions such as “Furthermore,” “Even though,” and “Second” help signal relationships between ideas. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. For example, “Although” begins a sentence without a clear contrast, and the relationship between the claim about career choices and the conclusion that academic subjects are society’s future could be made more explicit. The final paragraph introduces two recommendations, but their connection to the preceding discussion is brief. Use clearer topic sentences and develop each paragraph around one main point, with references that make it obvious what “these two approaches” refers to.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “physical education,” “core subjects,” “career,” and “prioritized.” There are also attempts at less common or more formal expressions, such as “renowned sports personalities” and “prime knowledge,” though some are not natural in context. Several spelling and word-choice errors—“martail,” “theoritcal,” and “knoweldge”—are noticeable, while phrases such as “holds vital role” and “has now known as” show that collocations and forms need closer checking. These issues do not prevent the reader from understanding your main points, but they reduce precision. Aim for natural combinations such as “plays a vital role” and “is now known as,” and proofread spelling before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a concession clause beginning “Although” and a conditional structure in “where they can find a student’s interest.” Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors occur in sentence construction, agreement, articles, and verb forms. For example, “in a school it is prominent to teach” has an awkward structure, “a pupil possess” does not show subject–verb agreement, and “has now known as” is missing the required passive form. The sentence beginning “Although” is also incomplete as a contrast because its main clause does not clearly complete the construction. To improve, check agreement and verb patterns, and make sure each subordinate clause is attached to a complete, logically connected main clause.
