Student answer (Band 5.5)

In my opinion, studying of a foreign language is important. Acording to ones career of choice, you may be required to interact with people from different parts of the world meaning that you cannot precisely communicate using ones local language.

For instance, if ones career is to become a pilot, meaning that you will be travelling to different countries using different languages, so it is very crucial for one in this very field to study foreign languages in order to earn them a smooth working platform.Since communication is an important aspect in humanity.

Another feilds where the study of a forein language is important is in agriculture and marketing. in the modern wprld there are alot of advancements in the agrculture sector. Some advancements include use of agricutural chemicals, and since the chemicals are produced from companies, internal or foreign perhaps, the target customers must understand foreign language for proper understanding of the prescriptions on how to use them.

Furthermore, understanding foreign languages promotes groth in technology, for instance, in medicine side of technology, doctors are required to study more than just their local languages since they interact with different people of different origins and using different languages.

In addition using of medical advanced equipments require one to have full understading of foregn languages, the reason being that most of the equipments imported from all over the world.

in conclusion, the study of foregn language has a high potential benefits that we cannot turn a blind eye to and that comes with important results to ones life.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You give a clear opinion that foreign-language study is important and address its potential benefits through examples from aviation, agriculture, marketing, and medicine. These examples are relevant, especially the point that pilots need to communicate across countries and that users of imported agricultural products need to understand instructions. However, some benefits are asserted rather than fully explained: the link between foreign languages and “growth in technology,” for example, would be stronger with a specific explanation of how language skills help doctors or technology users. The response also focuses mainly on career-related advantages, so it could cover broader educational or personal benefits. Develop each example with a clearer cause-and-effect explanation to make the support more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has an overall structure: an opening opinion, supporting examples, and a conclusion. Paragraphing helps separate the main points, and transitions such as “For instance,” “Furthermore,” and “In conclusion” guide the reader. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear. The pilot example begins with “For instance” but then runs into a sentence fragment, “Since communication is an important aspect in humanity.” The agriculture and marketing point also shifts quickly between fields without explaining their connection. Some linking phrases feel mechanical, and punctuation around sentence boundaries is inconsistent. Organise each paragraph around one main benefit, then explain and illustrate it in a clear sequence, using references such as “this skill” only when their meaning is unmistakable.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “interact,” “prescriptions,” “imported,” and “different origins,” and your examples show an attempt to discuss several professional contexts. However, the range and control are limited by repeated general wording such as “important,” “different,” and “foreign language,” as well as inaccurate or awkward expressions. For example, “smooth working platform” does not naturally express the intended idea, and “high potential benefits” is an imprecise collocation. Spelling errors such as “Acording,” “feilds,” and “foregn” are noticeable and reduce accuracy. Build a more precise set of topic vocabulary and check spelling and collocations carefully so your meaning is consistently easy to follow.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including conditional structures such as “if one’s career is to become a pilot” and explanations introduced by “since.” However, some sentence structures are faulty, and punctuation sometimes makes the relationships between ideas difficult to follow. The pilot example contains a run-on construction (“..., meaning that you will be travelling ..., so it is very crucial...”), followed by the incomplete sentence “Since communication is an important aspect in humanity.” There are also errors with articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries, as in “Another fields ... is” and the lower-case sentence beginning “in the modern world.” Aim to make each sentence grammatically complete, and use shorter sentences when a longer structure becomes difficult to control.
