Student answer (Band 6.0)

In the modern era, some countries are promoting bilingual language. Due to this ,Students have to learn more languages during their academics, while some countries are focusing on their native language in their education system. There are lots of benefits of learning foreign languages, which are discussed in the paragraphs.

The first and foremost benefit of learning two or more languages is that it can boost your chances of professional growth. For example, in an MNC company, they need some staff who can coordinate with other countries company staff so it can make their communication smoother and work faster. Secondly, some countries have two languages as their native language, so it has become necessary for students to study them so they can survive in their communities. For example,In Canada, French and English are spoken by the native people, and also some of its provinces use the French language as their first language.

From my point of view, Students should know of one or more languages so it can make them different than the other people. Recently, Waterloo university did the survey on their alumni students who got jobs. It provided information that those who have studied two languages in their study they got jobs very easily and quickly.

To conclude this, having knowledge and studying one or more languages is more beneficial compared to studying one language. So that ,Every children has to learn on more launage during their study.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the benefits of foreign language study and the opinion on its importance. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention professional growth and community survival, these points are not fully extended. The conclusion is a bit abrupt and the response falls short of the 250-word minimum requirement, which impacts the overall task completion. To improve, ensure you provide more detailed explanations and perhaps a second example to support your arguments, ensuring you meet the word count to allow for a more thorough exploration of the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'The first and foremost', 'Secondly', and 'To conclude this'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly inaccurate, such as the phrasing 'To conclude this' and the spacing issues around punctuation (e.g., 'For example,In Canada'). The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that referencing is more precise throughout the text.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on basic terms like 'lots of benefits' and 'make them different'. There are also some errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'promoting bilingual language' (should be 'bilingualism') and 'MNC company' (redundant, as MNC stands for Multinational Corporation). To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to education and professional development, and pay closer attention to word forms and collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation. Examples include 'Every children has to learn on more launage' (subject-verb agreement and spelling errors) and 'Waterloo university did the survey on their alumni students' (awkward phrasing). Punctuation errors, such as missing spaces after commas and incorrect capitalization, are also present. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct article usage, and proofreading for basic mechanical errors to ensure your writing is more accurate.
