Student answer (Band 6.5)

In certain educational systems it is important for kids to study one or more foreign languages while others consider it as not mandatory option. In my opinion learning other country languages gives opportunity to explore the career in abroad countries while not having it as part of subject gives alternate subject to study.

First of all, Learning another languages improves brain function and also gives vast opportunity to in another countries. Children's builds strong cognitive skills when learning a complete new language at young age. The demand for certain fields is very high in foreign countries and to be able survive few countries require local language known. For example My second language was French at my younger age although i studied for fun at that time now it has become only reason why i can able to get a job and flexible with the residents and the people at France.

on the other hand, I believe it is not really important to learn foreign language at young age as part of education. Not every child or parents are interested for the child to learn any language and to be part of studies instead they may include any other subject which helps them in certain field to develop from young age and eventually they can master the knowledge on particular subject. For example, one of my friend developed interest in doctor field apart from other subject she very much focused in Biology and now is a successful doctor.

In Conclusion, Although it is beneficial to learn foreign languages at the same time it shouldn't be part of education in mandatory. Instead Make kids to focus in the area they are interested in.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt: it discusses the benefits of foreign language study and provides a clear opinion on whether it should be mandatory. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While the benefits (cognitive skills, career opportunities) are mentioned, they are not fully extended with detailed explanations. The counter-argument regarding focusing on other subjects is relevant but could be more robustly supported. The position is consistent throughout, but the depth of analysis is more characteristic of a Band 6.0, as some points remain slightly superficial.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'First of all', 'on the other hand', and 'In Conclusion', which help guide the reader. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where the flow between sentences is slightly disjointed, such as in the second paragraph. Referencing is generally clear, but the overall progression of ideas could be smoother to reach a higher band.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are some awkward collocations and word choices, such as 'explore the career in abroad countries' (should be 'pursue a career abroad') and 'doctor field' (should be 'medical field'). While the meaning is always clear, the range of vocabulary is somewhat repetitive and lacks the sophistication or flexibility needed for a Band 7.0 or higher.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the doctor field'), pluralization ('another languages'), and verb forms ('Children's builds', 'i can able to'). These errors are noticeable and occur throughout the text, although they do not impede overall communication. To improve, the student should focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of prepositions and articles.
