IELTS Writing Task 2 question

In some educational systems, children are required to study one or more foreign languages. In others, foreign language study is not a requirement. What are the potential benefits of foreign language study? 

Do you think foreign language study is an important part of education?

Give reasons for your answer, and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays effective education is only possible when the curriculum of the school is excellent enough, therefore, few schools have already commenced to teach students foreign languages for enhancing their creativity and communication skills, however, in other institutes learning a foreign language is not essential as they reckon their syllabus is more than enough for study. In this essay, i will demonstrate the prominent advantages of the foreign language with indispensable illustrations.

To commence with the robust benefits of the acquisition of foreign language, foreign language not only enhance our knowledge but also makes us confident enough to communicate with any foreigner with their native language. To illustrate it, one of my cousins, living in Canada and he can read, write, listen and speak French fluently, because of these qualities he got a good job and now eligible for applying the permanent residence in Canada. Only one extra knowledge of a language provide him opportunity to receive plenty of unturned milestones. Taking evidence into the consideration, learning one or more extra language provides ultimate benefit for upcoming future.

I firmly believe that learning any foreign language posses a plethora of advantages along with the knowledge and creativity, it has been seen that the people who can communicate more than one or two language are likely to be the perfect decision makers, moreover, they know how to tackle any situation easily. To exemplify this, as i still remember that when i was in my school in childhood, i used to speak only one language which was Hindi, but over the period of time, i learned English as well which assist me a lot, now i can easily communicate with anyone who belongs from the western countries or the English speaking region. So, learning a contemporary language always provide a sense of high intellectual.

To conclude it, I personally reckon that, learning a foreign language changes the pattern of our thinking along with the potential acquisition of knowledge about culture, society and the sophisticated world.
