Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the benefits of language study and the opinion on its importance. However, the essay is under the 250-word minimum, which limits the depth of the arguments. While the ideas are relevant, they are somewhat repetitive, particularly regarding job opportunities and travel. The position is clear, but the development of ideas lacks the necessary detail to reach a higher band. To improve, you should expand on your points with more specific examples or deeper analysis to ensure the essay meets the length requirement and provides a more comprehensive discussion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use some cohesive devices like 'In addition' and 'In conclusion' to link ideas. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where the progression of ideas feels slightly disjointed. For example, the transition between the benefits of travel and the cultural benefits could be smoother. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that connects back to the main thesis.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your meaning clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'international companies,' 'native speakers,' and 'local rituals.' However, there are some word choice errors, such as 'likely to hiring' (should be 'likely to hire') and 'it also offers individuals to work from home option' (should be 'offers the option to work from home'). To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more sophisticated collocations and avoid repetitive phrasing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader, such as 'others says' (should be 'others say'), 'learning other languages have' (should be 'has'), and 'students will achieved' (should be 'will achieve'). Additionally, there are issues with article usage and preposition placement. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on subject-verb agreement and verb tense consistency to improve your accuracy.
