Student answer (Band 5.5)

In this modern era, knowing more than one language is more appropriate as compared to who are not. According to few individuals learning international languages more than on in schools is beneficial. While others believe that other languages are not necessary as part of studies. In the following paragraph i am going to discuss what extend i am agree from the given statement and what are the benefits of learning foreign languages with some reasons with examples.

To begin with, having knowledge of additional languages besides native one is beneficial for children on their particular growing age. Which give overall growth of their thinking and learning abilities significantly over the ages. Which brings confidence and fluency while speaking in front of international people. Learning later will quit tough during the growing age. For instance one of my friend he study in government school from his first grade untill 12th with some basic subjects with minimum English knowledge. Later when he want to settle down abroad it is very hard to him for clearing English learning test. So at the end he decide to do some basic private job in his home country.

Moving further, it is not deniable that learning foreign languages is appropriate in young age. Hut it gives extra burden and work in their playing age which distract them from their hobbies and intertest. Because they putting extra efforts to learn. Additionally it develops the thought of compitition and social status who knows more among the society. Child not engaging outside due to overload of to many subjects. additional languages they can learn later.

to conclude that, beginning age is growing age so children should learn more than one languages without any pressure. But if it is giving toughness to them they should ignore learning additional languages and stay more focused on their primary subjects.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the benefits of foreign language study and the writer's opinion on its importance. However, the development of ideas is inconsistent. The first body paragraph provides a relevant personal example, but the second body paragraph is somewhat contradictory and lacks clear focus, as it jumps between the burden of learning and the social implications. The position is clear, but the arguments could be more thoroughly extended. To improve, ensure each paragraph focuses on a single, well-developed point that directly supports your overall stance.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the flow between ideas is often mechanical or disjointed. For example, the transition 'Moving further' is used, but the subsequent argument about the 'burden' of learning feels disconnected from the previous paragraph. Cohesive devices are present, such as 'To begin with' and 'Additionally', but they are sometimes used incorrectly or with awkward phrasing (e.g., 'to conclude that, beginning age is growing age'). Referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the logical progression of the argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several instances of awkward word choices and spelling errors, such as 'compitition' instead of 'competition', 'intertest' instead of 'interest', and 'quit tough' instead of 'quite tough'. The range of vocabulary is limited, relying on basic descriptors. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise collocations and ensure accurate spelling of common academic terms. Expanding your range to include more topic-specific vocabulary would also be beneficial.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'one of my friend he study'), incorrect verb tenses (e.g., 'he decide'), and sentence fragments (e.g., 'Which give overall growth...'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of full stops and commas. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic structures prevents a higher score. Focusing on sentence construction and proofreading for basic errors is essential.
