Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays, children are obliged to learn foreign languages in some schools. However, teaching new languages other than national language is not common in other educational institutions. I believe, career growth and exposure to oversees cultures are the main benefits of learning foreign languages. Thus, adding foreign language subjects in school curriculum is a great practice.
There are many fruitful consequences of learning global languages. Firstly, this practice breaks the language barrier which further offers better opportunities for youngsters. It also encourages people to get settled in western countries where they can find lucrative jobs and carry comfortable lifestyle. For example, many Indian students are migrating to Canada for higher studies which is only possible after achieving required marks in International English Test. Secondly, travellers who visit different parts of the world can travel easily as well as gain their knowledge about new cultures by engaging conversations with native speakers.
One the major reasons why importance should be given to foreign language study is individual development; if children are being exposed to new languages then there are very chances for them to get be successful in their later life. Moreover,

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, as it is only 189 words long. This significantly impacts the development of ideas, as the final paragraph is incomplete and abruptly ends. While the essay identifies benefits such as career growth and cultural exposure, the lack of length prevents a fully developed argument. The position is clear, but the supporting points are under-developed due to the truncated nature of the response. To improve, you must ensure all parts of the prompt are addressed with sufficient depth and that the essay reaches the required length.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay uses basic cohesive devices like 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'Moreover' to structure the response. However, the logical flow is interrupted by the incomplete final paragraph. Paragraphing is present, but the abrupt ending makes the overall progression feel unfinished. Referencing is generally clear, but the lack of a concluding paragraph prevents the essay from having a cohesive summary of the main points. To reach a higher band, ensure that each paragraph is fully developed and that the essay concludes with a clear summary of your position.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You use some relevant terms like 'language barrier', 'lucrative jobs', and 'native speakers'. However, there are some awkward collocations and minor errors, such as 'gain their knowledge' (should be 'gain knowledge') and 'there are very chances' (should be 'there is a high chance'). The range is somewhat limited, and you rely on fairly common vocabulary. Incorporating more precise, academic collocations would improve your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors that occasionally affect the flow, such as 'teaching new languages other than national language' (missing article 'the') and 'One the major reasons' (missing 'of'). The sentence 'if children are being exposed to new languages then there are very chances for them to get be successful' contains redundant phrasing and awkward construction. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors limits the score. Focus on proofreading for articles and consistent verb usage.
