Student answer (Band 5.5)
In many educational system it is inportant to learn more than one language but on the other side it is not part of their study because it take time or efforts. I believe that it is very essential to learn more than one language for our life. In the upcoming paragraphs i will discuss.
the one more important benefit is to help people to communicate with other people who are from another country. Nowadays most of the people prefer to study in different country for their higher study and some of them go for work . For example , english is the only language that everyone can understand easily. all over the world every one can speak english. people can confidently commucate with others while travelling ,study, or working in dodfferenrt areas . in addition its help everyone to differnet their communty and values.
The another benifit is for future employment bacause companies prefer a person who know morebthan 2 language . beacuse its help to improve the costumer service . if a perrson knoe the engkish and freench it help people to know the basic understanding of local areas to solve problem to find transit stores and manyb more
For me lear more than one language is more important part of life nit onlu personally but also professionally to communicate with others. but in the starting people more little unconfortable later it will be more helpfull for them in future .
in conclusion , foreign language will bw more benifit for international student and all overall the country to understand their basic needs and help them

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the benefits of foreign language study and the personal opinion on its importance in education. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention communication and employment as benefits, the explanations are brief and lack depth. For instance, the point about 'customer service' is mentioned but not fully explored. To reach a higher band, you should provide more detailed examples or logical consequences for each point. The position is clear throughout, but the overall development remains basic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate (e.g., 'the one more important benefit', 'the another benifit'). There are also issues with referencing; for example, the transition between ideas is sometimes abrupt. While there is a logical progression from the benefits to the conclusion, the lack of sophisticated linking words and the repetitive sentence structure hinder the flow of the essay. Improving the variety of transition signals would significantly enhance the coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is sufficient to convey the basic meaning but is quite limited and repetitive. There are frequent spelling errors throughout the text, such as 'inportant', 'commucate', 'dodfferenrt', 'bacause', and 'freench'. These errors are noticeable and occasionally distract the reader. You rely on simple, high-frequency words and struggle with collocations (e.g., 'differnet their communty'). To improve, you should focus on learning the correct spelling of common academic words and expanding your range of vocabulary to include more precise terms related to education and professional development.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures. While there are attempts at complex sentences, they are often marred by grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('it take time', 'companies prefer a person who know') and incorrect article usage. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after commas and periods. The frequency of these errors is high, which occasionally makes the meaning difficult to grasp. To improve, you should focus on mastering basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and ensuring that your complex sentences are grammatically sound.
