Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 184 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas, as the conclusion is incomplete and the arguments are underdeveloped. While you address both parts of the prompt—the benefits and the importance of language study—the lack of length prevents a full exploration of these points. To improve, you must expand your supporting examples and ensure your conclusion is fully articulated. Currently, the response is too brief to provide the depth required for a higher band score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, and there is a basic attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Furthermore', and 'Moreover'. However, the progression of ideas is hindered by the abrupt ending of the text. Some transitions are slightly mechanical, and the logical flow is interrupted by the incomplete final sentence. To achieve a higher score, ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and that your ideas are linked more fluidly throughout the entire response, leading to a complete and well-structured conclusion.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'bilingual', 'eligibility criteria', and 'cognitive skills'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'get the access of' (should be 'gain access to') and 'not securing future only' (should be 'not only secures the future'). The vocabulary is generally functional but lacks the precision and sophistication required for higher bands. Focus on learning common collocations and refining your usage of academic phrases to improve your lexical range and accuracy.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'foreign language subject is crucial part' (missing articles) and 'learning more languages in schools assist' (subject-verb agreement error). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but the incomplete final sentence is a significant issue. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and article usage. Increasing the variety of your sentence structures while maintaining accuracy will also help you move toward a higher band score.
