Student answer (Band 6.0)

The debate of including foreign languages in curriculum is beneficial for toodlers or not is today’s concern. This essay will elucidate both viewpoints and give appropriate examples based on knowledge and experience.

To start with bright side, including foreign languages such as English which is very essential for children because, english is a universal language. Furthermore if children want to study their bachelors in abroad such as UK or US ,they will easily understand the topic and communicate with their friends and local people. Also if they are planning to study in Europe countries their is language barrier and toodlers have to pass the exams to get admission in university in Germany and so on. Moreover,if family is planning for holiday in different wellknown countries, if child knows the foreign language they can easily start a conversation with anyone and make a trip smoothly without any hesitation.

Watching of dark side, if a toodler is studing main subjects like maths, science keep them busy. If school or education wants to add one more subject like foreign languages , it will be burden for them to study as a different subject.Furthermore, they need to give extra time for understanding and try to speak in this foreign languages such as German,Spanish or French. It will reduce their playing time and affect on their growth.

The balance and which language is adding in curriculum makes the life easy for toodlers .It should not be must to study foreign languages but it is good idea to give them opportunities to learn different languages.

In conclusion, I believe their is no restrictions to add as new subject for language but give them option to learn in their free time.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The essay addresses both parts of the prompt: the benefits of foreign language study and the writer's opinion on its importance in education. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the argument regarding 'toodlers' (toddlers) is slightly off-target, as the prompt discusses children in educational systems, not infants. The position is clear, but the supporting points, such as the mention of 'Germany and so on', lack specific detail or depth. To reach a higher band, you should expand on the cognitive or cultural benefits of language learning rather than focusing primarily on travel or university admissions.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'Furthermore' and 'Also'. There are also issues with referencing and logical flow; for example, the transition 'Watching of dark side' is non-standard and awkward. While the overall arrangement is coherent, the lack of sophisticated linking words and occasional lapses in referencing prevent a higher score. Improving the variety of transitions would significantly enhance the flow of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. You rely on basic terms like 'bright side' and 'dark side', which are informal for an essay. There are also consistent errors in word choice, such as using 'toodlers' instead of 'children' or 'students', and 'in abroad' instead of 'abroad'. Spelling errors like 'studing' and 'wellknown' also occur. To improve, you should focus on using more academic vocabulary and ensuring that words are used in their correct collocations and contexts.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include missing articles ('in Europe countries'), incorrect preposition usage ('in abroad'), and subject-verb agreement errors ('their is language barrier'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after commas and periods. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors indicates a lack of control over complex structures. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for articles and prepositions will help improve your accuracy.
