Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the benefits of foreign language study and the opinion on its importance in education. The position is clear throughout. The ideas are relevant, such as job prospects and cultural empathy, though some points could be developed with more specific detail. For instance, the mention of 'managerial roles' is a good start, but the explanation of how language study specifically 'entries solid skill' is slightly vague. Overall, the response covers all requirements of the task well, providing a balanced argument that supports the writer's stance.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'To commence', 'Additionally', and 'Furthermore' are used to guide the reader. However, there are some issues with referencing and mechanical flow. For example, the phrase 'there become a smooth correlation b/w the people' is awkward and lacks clear cohesion with the previous sentence. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas, which helps the reader follow the argument. While the progression is generally logical, some transitions feel slightly forced or repetitive.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, with some attempts at more sophisticated language like 'proliferation', 'prerequisite', and 'globalized society'. However, there are several instances of incorrect word choice and collocation errors, such as 'entries solid skill' (likely meaning 'instills solid skills') and 'security lucrative positions' (should be 'securing'). The use of abbreviations like 'b/w' is inappropriate for an academic essay. While the range is sufficient to convey meaning, the frequent minor errors in word choice and the use of informal shorthand limit the score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of reading. Examples include 'I am definitely agree' (should be 'I definitely agree'), 'it is important to taught' (should be 'to teach'), and 'there chances' (should be 'their chances'). Subject-verb agreement and pronoun usage are inconsistent throughout the text. While the writer attempts complex structures, the high frequency of basic grammatical slips prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing around symbols.
