Student answer (Band 6.0)
Foreign languages make compulsory in many schools because they think it provides numerous benefits to students in their future, whilst others deem that it should not be compulsory . In my opinion, I am totally agree with the statement which I will discuss in the upcoming paragraphs.
To commence with, there are many reasons that are supporting the statement that why foreign languages must be compulsory in schools the first and foremost is that if learners learn foreign languages in their school time ; as a result, In the future they will have excellent knowledge about the other languages which will provide significant benefits to them not only in their present but also in their future . To elaborate it, English is international language if everyone know this languages then they will easily travel in any country as well as while the travel they can share their thought with native people and communicate with then . Owing to this, masses can not only boost their communication skills but also they can boost their horizon . Similarly, if the student learn another languages as they will become more confident which creates the win- win situation for both the learners as well as for the school because educational center gets the excellent reputation in the front of other centers which well provide the name and fame to them.
On the other hand, some supporting arguments can also be mentioned in the support of later view. Like, if the students learn other foreign languages while their school time , the chances that they will be neglect their own language in future more ; as a result, they will be forget their own native roots which will have detrimental impact on both culture and tradition . Apart from this, learners already have huge burden of study on their shoulders so if another languages will makes compulsory in school as they might be not focus on their study properly due to this, they will lag behind from others as a result they will face pressure of study by their parents which will put negative impact on their mental health and on their physical health.
To conclude, despite having some disadvantages of this trend but by making foreign languages compulsory in schools will provide more advantages not only to students but also to learners because they will become cosmopolitan and confident in their upcoming time.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the benefits of foreign language study and the opinion on whether it should be compulsory. The position is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive and lacks depth. For example, the argument regarding 'name and fame' for schools is not a standard educational benefit and feels slightly underdeveloped. While the response covers the requirements, the arguments could be more sophisticated and better supported with more specific, logical examples to reach a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To commence with', 'On the other hand', and 'To conclude'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as the phrase 'In my opinion, I am totally agree'. Additionally, some sentences are run-on or lack clear punctuation, which occasionally disrupts the flow of ideas. Improving the variety and naturalness of linking words would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There is some repetition of basic terms like 'languages', 'study', and 'future'. While the student attempts some less common phrases like 'win-win situation' and 'cosmopolitan', there are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'make compulsory' instead of 'made compulsory' and 'boost their horizon' instead of 'broaden their horizons'. These errors do not impede communication, but they limit the score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('if everyone know this languages'), incorrect verb forms ('if another languages will makes compulsory'), and awkward phrasing ('I am totally agree'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before semicolons and commas. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the essay from reaching a higher band.
