Student answer (Band 5.0)

In the today's world it is important to learn multiple language because it provides both practical and intellectually value.

On the one hand, learning different languages is created great communication skills that help children in the future. As well as create opportunities to interact with different people and opportunities to work with them. In addition, its help to developed problem solving skills. With that they can learn new vocabulary, understand level of another person and know about different culture. For example: if a guy knows how to speak Spanish it is easy to communicate with not depending on any translated apps.

In my views, foreign languages should be important part of the education from early childhood. Children are generally at developing age so is easy to communication more naturally when they try to speak from young age. If they do not we fluent but at least they can gain important information how to talk in another language. however, schools should me focus on the practical improving on the skills rather than memorizing on the grammar rules.

In conclusion, learning a foreign language can improve the communication skills, and culture understanding. so, i strongly agree with those educational systems are required to study one or more foreign languages.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the benefits of foreign language study and the writer's opinion on its importance in education. However, the response is significantly under the 250-word minimum requirement, which limits the depth of the arguments. While the ideas are relevant, they are underdeveloped. For instance, the point about 'problem solving skills' is mentioned but not explained or supported with a clear example. The conclusion is also quite brief. To improve, the writer needs to expand on each point with more detailed explanations and specific examples to meet the length requirement and provide a more thorough discussion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. There is a basic attempt at logical progression, moving from benefits to the writer's opinion. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'With that they can learn...' or 'If they do not we fluent'. The transition between ideas is sometimes abrupt, and the referencing is occasionally unclear. To reach a higher band, the writer should focus on using a wider variety of linking words more naturally and ensuring that each sentence flows logically from the previous one.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'intellectually value' instead of 'intellectual value' and 'practical improving on the skills' instead of 'practical skill improvement'. The writer relies on basic vocabulary and struggles with collocations. To improve, the student should focus on learning word families and common collocations, and try to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to education and linguistics to express ideas more precisely.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. Examples include 'In the today's world', 'its help to developed', and 'schools should me focus'. Subject-verb agreement and tense consistency are problematic throughout the text. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar limits the score. The writer needs to proofread carefully for common errors like article usage, verb forms, and sentence construction to improve accuracy.
