Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The essay addresses both parts of the prompt: the benefits of foreign language study and the writer's opinion on its importance. The ideas are relevant, such as improved communication in international settings and academic/professional advantages. However, the development is somewhat repetitive. For instance, the points about 'communication' and 'understanding' are mentioned in both body paragraphs without significant expansion. To reach a higher band, the writer should provide more distinct, well-supported arguments rather than restating similar concepts. The position is clear throughout, but the depth of analysis could be improved by exploring different facets of the topic, such as cognitive benefits or cultural empathy, rather than focusing primarily on communication.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To begin with', 'For instance', 'Moreover', and 'To recapitulate'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly repetitive. There are also minor issues with referencing and flow; for example, the transition between the second body paragraph and the conclusion is a bit abrupt. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the internal progression of ideas within paragraphs could be smoother to ensure a more natural flow of information.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their meaning clearly. There are some attempts at topic-specific vocabulary, such as 'migrating', 'international competitions', and 'workplace'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are instances of awkward phrasing or word choice, such as 'developing a good skill of handling other language' and 'speciality of the nation'. The spelling is generally accurate, but the vocabulary lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. Expanding the range of collocations and using more sophisticated synonyms would significantly improve the quality of the writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that, while not impeding communication, are noticeable. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('learning foreign language have', 'it enable'), missing articles ('the children', 'in the younger age'), and minor punctuation or word-form errors ('classess', 'interect', 'Furthurmore'). The control of complex structures is inconsistent, and the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and article usage would be a beneficial area for improvement.
