IELTS Writing Task 2 question

In some educational systems, children are required to study one or more foreign languages. In others, foreign language study is not a requirement. What are the potential benefits of foreign language study? 

Do you think foreign language study is an important part of education?

Give reasons for your answer, and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is indeed true that studying foreign languages are become more required for students in some educational institutes ,however others do not required. There are various benefits to learn foreign languages along with the regular school subjects in order to employment and knowledge increment. wheter it should be part of school education or not , in my opioin , it should be learnt by students . I will elaborate the reasons why it could be in the upcoming paragraphs.

First and foremost advantage of studying foreign language by student is in aspects of employment sectors as in future when they finish their studies they have struggle alot for good paying jobs, which some time are not available in home counrty to have bright future. For instance, thesedays youngsters are moving abroads for jobs and better lifestyles , if they had been studied foreign language of the country before where they are going it is become easier for them to survive and find out better job positions with no language barrier. Moreover, last but not the least they gain knowledge while socilicing and communacating with different countries people , which some times can not possible by reading novels and articals.

In addition to this, students become more confident and creative they do not get feared whenever they go in other socities . students can participate in other countries activites freely and feel pround themselves.

In conclusion, studying foreign languages have more merits on students life later in order to employment and self estem boosting , so it should be part of school curriculum.

There are numerous word choice, collocation, and spelling errors, such as 'knowledge increment', 'wheter', 'opioin', 'counrty', 'thesedays', 'abroads', 'socilicing', 'communacating', 'articals', and 'estem'. Despite these inaccuracies and noticeable spelling slips, the vocabulary remains minimally adequate to convey the intended meaning, corresponding to a Band 5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but control is inconsistent. Frequent grammatical errors impede readability and cause difficulty for the reader at times. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('studying foreign languages are become more required', 'others do not required'), tense errors ('if they had been studied', 'it is become easier'), and run-on sentences with punctuation slips. Due to the high frequency of errors across both simple and complex forms, the grammar falls into the Band 5 category.
