Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays, In many educational systems, students are required to learn more than one foreign languages. However, in others, it is not a mandatory to be multilingual. There are several positive advantages of being multilingual. This essay will discuss why I strongly believe that foreign language study is an important part of education.
One of the main reason of learning a foreign language is global connectivity. It allows people to connect with world without language barrier. Person who is knowing more than one language can communicate beyond the boundaries and able to do their work regardless of their language barrier. For example, many individuals expand their busineses globally and generate massive profit from international markets, itis only possible if they know foreign language. Additionally, learning language from school time would be easy for individuals for future carrer. School going children have learning mindset and high grasping power, therefore it would be easier for them to learn language compared to learning in adulthood. Children who knows more than one languages might have more carrer opportunities in the future, similarly their communication skills and self-confidence also improve.
Moreover, in the competitive world, it is crucial to have different skills along with educational degrees which can help students to choose their future carrer and follow their passions without bounded by language restriction.
I strongly believe that, learning a foreing language should be a part of education system as it prepare students from their childhood to learn a new language, and would help children to pursue their goals in the future. Furthermore, being multilingual is not only benifits individuals but also to the nation as well. For instance, with the help of languages, nowadays foreing migration has significantly increased for career growth.
To conclude, although some believe that foreign language is not a requirement. I believe that learning a foreign language opens many door for individuals for their career growth as well as to expand their work and businesses.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response successfully addresses both parts of the prompt by discussing the potential benefits of foreign language study and clearly stating an opinion on its importance in education. Ideas are relevant and supported with examples, such as global connectivity and career opportunities. However, some arguments tend to over-generalise or remain slightly repetitive, as seen when career advantages are reiterated across multiple paragraphs. The position is clear throughout the essay, and the main ideas are adequately extended, placing the response comfortably at Band 6.5 or 7. Due to minor underdeveloped transitions within body paragraphs, a Band 6.0 is well-justified for fulfilling most requirements while missing deeper conceptual depth.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay displays a generally coherent overall arrangement with clear paragraphing, separating the introduction, body points, and conclusion logically. Cohesive devices are used to signal progression, such as 'One of the main reason', 'Additionally', and 'Moreover'. However, some cohesive links feel mechanical or slightly inaccurate, and referencing is occasionally weak. For instance, 'it is only possible if they know foreign language' lacks smooth integration, and minor punctuation issues affect the flow. Paragraphing is present and appropriate, but the internal logical progression within the second body paragraph gets slightly cluttered with overlapping ideas on careers and childhood learning, leading to a Band 6.0 classification.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The writer uses an adequate range of vocabulary suitable for the task, attempting less common items such as 'global connectivity', 'multilingual', and 'international markets'. However, there are noticeable lexical errors and awkward word choices throughout the text, including 'busineses', 'itis', 'foreing', 'benifits', and 'open many door'. Furthermore, grammatical collocation errors occur, such as 'One of the main reason' (plural noun needed) and 'learning language from school time'. While these errors do not seriously impede communication, the frequency of spelling and word-form inaccuracies prevents the response from achieving a higher band, placing it squarely at Band 6.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some ability to use subordinate clauses (e.g., 'Children who knows more than one languages might have more carrer opportunities'). However, the text contains a high frequency of grammatical errors and inaccurate structures. Examples include subject-verb agreement errors ('One of the main reason', 'Children who knows', 'languages... might have'), missing articles ('learn foreign languages', 'know foreign language'), and spelling/typographical slips ('carrer', 'busineses', 'itis'). While the meaning remains mostly clear to the reader, the constant presence of basic errors means that error-free sentences are not in the majority, restricting the score to a Band 5.5.
