In some educational systems, children are required to study one or more foreign languages. In others, foreign language study is not a requirement. What are the potential benefits of foreign language study? 

Do you think foreign language study is an important part of education?

Give reasons for your answer, and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 6.5)

The requirement of learning foreign languages is mandatory in some educational systems, however in some others curriculumns, it is not necessary. There are many benefits of learning a foreign language such as learning about their cultures or their unique way of expressing emotions. In my opinion, yes it is a vital part of education because it opens the door for many new opportunities leading to employment.

One of the many potential benefits of learning an international language is that it can help develop the understnading of new cultures and beliefs which we might never heard of in our entire life. It also help strengthen the community works. For example, if you know more than one language which is not being normally spoken in your country, you can help people in translating conversations. These conversation could be day to day english sentences. Therefore, it can ultimately broden the knowledge of a children who is just learning to enter into a real world.

In my perspective, the study of a foreign language is a crucial part of pupil's education. Having it as a subject in the syallbus is an asset of them. All children should have the knowledge of at least one foreign language because it can provide the opprotunity to secure one's future. If for instance, they need to go outside to study further about certain field, they do not have to worry about language barriers. It can boost confidence and improve their ability to perform. As a result, they can might get a intership or a job offer afterwards.That is why, making the efforts of adding lessons, about learning international languages are a worth decision.

In conclusion, learning about foreign languages can help young generation to secure their future in other nations along with developing their horizon of knowledge about new cultures and beliefs. I think, indeed it is an important part of children's education.
