Student answer (Band 6.0)
In Today's world language learning has became a trend.Learning new languages always is a step towards progressive nature.some people think that foreign language learning helps young people connect to different culture and heritage , while others believe that foreign lanuage learning helps children learn more about different language and grow globally.
One of the most basic reason why learning new language helps beacuse it connects people globally .Speaking one language is not enough in this twenieth centure so learning new speech helps peopleto represnt their ideas internationally . In addition to , gaining knowledge about different cultures and tradition by learning their language , it also help us enrich our cultural diversity. Furthuremore, In some countries there is no singualr prominent languages ,rather they have different languages as they move from one state to another. So, in order to maintain clarity people learn different languages to communicate with each other. On top of that this skill can also boost children's confidence.
On the Other hand some countries make foreign lanugage learning a necesarry part of the curriculum. I think this step ensures children get knowledge in every language rather than just knowing one language.many countries like canda have secondary labguage like french which used to be communicated in past times. learning this language gives them an image of rheir oen ancient times too. A scientific study had also found that learning new langugaes have been proven to have positive effect on children's mind, by enlarging their thinking power. In addtion to language , foreign language can introduce the world differently to children as they would percieve opinion from a different perspective rather than just their own language .
In conclusion, I think learning new language can build interanl confidence in children as well can help them to connnect globally. While foreign language being a prominent part of education can enrich them with their own history and world's history. Overall, i think children should always be motivated to learn new things.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response successfully addresses all parts of the prompt. The writer discusses the potential benefits of foreign language study, such as global connectivity, cultural enrichment, and cognitive development, and clearly states a personal position in both the body paragraphs and the conclusion. Ideas are generally well-extended and supported with relevant explanations and examples, such as referencing Canada and citing scientific studies regarding children's thinking power. Although some minor generalisations occur, the overall coverage meets the requirements of a Band 6.5 or 7.0. Because the arguments are clearly stated and all prompts are addressed, it aligns closely with Band 7 descriptors.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response is organised into logical paragraphs with a clear overall progression. The writer uses basic cohesive devices adequately to signal transitions between ideas, such as "One of the most basic reason", "In addition to", and "On the Other hand". However, some cohesive elements are faulty, mechanical, or awkwardly phrased, such as "In addition to , gaining knowledge..." and referencing errors. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate introduction, body points, and conclusion, though internal paragraph cohesion occasionally feels disjointed due to punctuation slips and mechanical transitions. These features place the response firmly at a Band 6.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The writer demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common lexical items such as "progressive nature", "cultural diversity", and "cognitive development" (implied via thinking power). However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, including "became" instead of "become", "lanuage" and "langugaes", "twenieth centure", "represnt", and "necesarry". While these errors do not severely impede communication, they restrict the lexical score. The student uses a sufficient vocabulary range to convey ideas, but slips in accuracy and word formation prevent a higher score, making Band 6.0 appropriate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some variety in structure with clauses introduced by subordinating conjunctions like "while others believe that..." and "as they would percieve opinion...". However, there are frequent grammatical and punctuation errors, including missing articles ("learning new language"), subject-verb agreement issues ("learning new langugaes have been proven"), capitalization errors at the start of sentences ("some people think"), and awkward phrasing like "reason why learning new language helps beacuse it connects...". Punctuation is occasionally erratic with spacing around commas. These errors require some effort from the reader to parse, aligning with the Band 5.0 descriptors.
