Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You state a clear opinion that foreign-language study is important, and you give relevant potential benefits, including communication in business, travel, and access to higher education abroad. However, these points are mostly asserted rather than explained with specific examples, and the discussion of business and technology is unclear in places. The response also ends abruptly, with the travel sentence cut off, so the final point is not fully developed. The required minimum was not met: the response contains 206 words, 44 short of 250; 20 words copied from the task prompt were excluded from the count. To strengthen the response, explain how each benefit helps learners and add a concrete example, while completing the discussion.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5
There is an attempt to organise the response, with an opening, a first point introduced by “Moreover,” and a second point signalled by “Secondly.” Your position is also stated early, which gives the reader a general direction. However, the progression is difficult to follow because several ideas are crowded into one long paragraph, and links between them are not always clear. The travel discussion breaks off at “how we take order in th,” and the concluding sentence introduces digital advancement without clearly connecting it to the earlier points. Use separate paragraphs for the introduction, each main benefit, and the conclusion; then make each paragraph develop one central idea and use linking phrases only where they clarify the relationship.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “foreign languages,” “higher education,” “communicate,” and “technology,” so the reader can identify the main subject and some intended benefits. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes meaning unclear. For example, “potential benefits of the life of business” does not express a precise idea, and “make the men faster” is difficult to interpret. Spelling errors such as “achive,” “abrod,” and “commiunicate” also reduce accuracy. Build a bank of topic-specific phrases and check spelling; for instance, describe how language skills “support international business” or “help students pursue higher education overseas.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You make some attempts to combine ideas, for example with “if” clauses and the contrast introduced by “But.” However, sentence structures are often incomplete or difficult to control, and errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and punctuation frequently interrupt the message. Examples include “foreign language study give us,” where the subject and verb do not agree, and “if we have known about communication skills,” where the verb form does not fit the intended meaning. The travel sentence is also unfinished, and missing spaces after full stops make sentence boundaries unclear. Practise writing complete sentences with one main idea, then check subject–verb agreement, verb forms, and punctuation before adding more complex structures.
