Student answer (Band 4.0)
Many learning curriculums was put to focus on studying more than one foreign lanuguage by the students, while some other educational systems do not make that complusory. Studying foreign language is signifincantly effective for students as they learn how to connent with different people from other cultures, moreover, learning new language could be an opportunity for students to have better higher education or even better job.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0
You identify two relevant benefits: learning to connect with people from other cultures and gaining access to better higher education or employment. These points show an understanding of the topic, but the response does not fully answer both questions. It does not explain the benefits with examples or supporting detail, and it only implies that language study is valuable rather than clearly stating whether it is an important part of education. The response is also substantially below the required 250 words, so there is not enough development to fulfil the task. To improve, state your position directly, explain how each benefit helps students, and add a relevant example for each.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has a basic logical order: it first contrasts educational systems, then gives reasons why foreign-language study may be useful. The ideas are connected with “while” and “moreover,” which helps show contrast and addition. However, the whole answer is presented as one paragraph and ends before the points can be developed into a clear progression. The long final sentence also joins several ideas without explaining the relationship between them. Organise the response into an introduction, separate body paragraphs for the benefits, and a conclusion that answers whether language study is important. Use linking phrases to guide the reader, but ensure each paragraph develops one main point.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some topic-relevant vocabulary, including “foreign language,” “different people,” “cultures,” “higher education,” and “job.” These choices make your main meaning understandable. However, the range is narrow, and several spelling errors—“lanuguage,” “compulsory,” and “significantly”—reduce accuracy. Some phrases are also awkward or imprecise, such as “better higher education” and “put to focus.” Aim to use a wider range of accurate expressions for the topic, such as “communicate across cultures,” “access further education,” and “employment opportunities.” Check spelling carefully and choose natural collocations so your ideas sound clear and precise.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt to connect ideas in longer sentences, for example by using “while” to contrast educational systems and “moreover” to add a point. This shows some ability to form compound sentences. However, grammatical control is uneven: “Many learning curriculums was” has a subject–verb agreement error, and “Studying foreign language is” needs an article or plural form. The sentence beginning “Studying…” also combines several clauses, making the structure difficult to manage. Use a mix of shorter, accurate sentences and longer sentences with clear clause boundaries. For example, write “Many curricula focus on foreign-language study, while others do not require it.” Then check agreement, articles, and punctuation in each sentence.
