Student answer (Band 6.0)

In modern times, studying a non native language is mandatory, however, it is non essential in many nations. There are many advantages such as security a good job overseas as well as it helps in communication while exploring a foreign country. I firmly believe it helps everyone but adding it in curriculum will put extra pressure on students.

To begin with, the primary benefit of learning a foreign language is one can get hired in a foreign company. In other words, with the knowledge of a non native language people can obtain employment in a foreign nation. For example, French language is highly in demand. A billingual person can work both in Canada and France with the flexibility of remote work. Furthermore, we can communicate with foreign person to explain ourself. For instance, if persons studies chinese language, then they can communicate with the people who lives in China.

Moreover, people can make friends online in any part of the world, if they know their language. To illustrate, a person using Facebook or Instagram can make friends from different countries and talk in their language. In addition, a person speaking a foreign language person can talk confidently with others. To exemplify, a multilingual person is more confident while speaking with foreigners because they are familiar with their language. A foreign language helps an individual to develop skills and it shapes the personlity of a person.

To conclude, studying a different language helps a person in many ways including making friends, getting a job in a different country, and exploring world with confidence. But, making it mandatory to learn will become a burden on many because of busy schedules. It should depend on the choice of a person.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both the benefits of learning another language and whether it should be part of education, and your position is clear: you value language learning but oppose making it compulsory. The employment, travel communication and friendship examples are relevant. However, the benefits are not developed equally: the job example is more specific, while claims about confidence and personality are asserted rather than explained. The response also shifts from the question of whether language study is important to whether it should be mandatory; these are related but not identical. Explain why language learning deserves a place in education even if students have some choice, and extend one or two examples with clearer reasoning to make the response more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. Paragraphs group related benefits, and signposts such as “To begin with,” “Furthermore” and “To conclude” make the progression easy to follow. However, the linking is sometimes mechanical, with several examples introduced in the same way (“For example,” “To illustrate,” “To exemplify”). Some connections between ideas are also unclear: the move from making online friends to increased confidence and personality development feels like a list rather than a developed sequence. The conclusion repeats the benefits but does not fully resolve the distinction between language study being important and being compulsory. Use fewer formulaic transitions and show more explicitly how each point supports your position.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of vocabulary, including “employment,” “flexibility,” “multilingual” and “mandatory,” and the meaning is generally clear. There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “remote work” and “develop skills.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, including “security a good job,” “foreign person,” and “exploring world.” Spelling and word-form errors such as “billingual” and “personlity” also reduce accuracy. Repetition of “person” and “language” limits flexibility, particularly in the body paragraphs. Aim to learn common collocations and vary references to people and language skills; this will make your vocabulary more precise and natural without requiring unnecessarily complex words.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use a mixture of simple and more complex sentence forms, including conditional clauses such as “if they know their language” and a contrast introduced with “But.” Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “if persons studies” has incorrect subject–verb agreement, while “the people who lives in China” also needs agreement between the subject and verb. There are problems with articles and sentence construction in “with the knowledge of a non native language people can obtain employment,” and the opening sentence joins contrasting clauses awkwardly with a comma. Work on agreement, articles and punctuation, and check each sentence for a clear subject and verb. More accurate control of these patterns would strengthen the range you already attempt.
