Student answer (Band 5.0)

In some educational systems, children are compulsorily required to study one or more foreign language while in other educational system, the importance is not given that much as compared to here. My personal opnion on studying foreign language is important part for all children.

As we all know, that now-a-days there are many different courses in the education system. But all of them are not available for everyone in one region. They have to move to abroad for further studies for that particular course. To study in diffferent country one should be known to the native language of that country. Without learning the national language or common language of that country, it would be difficult for a student to graduate in that course.

The major benefits of foreign language study is that one can teach to any other person alsonwith his free will. One can communicate as well as understand easily what the 2nd peprson is trying to say or ask in that language. It would be also beneficial for the upcoming generation, so that they can learn it easily in their childhood itself.

To conclude, I would say that each and every person in family should atleast start learning or should know atleast one foreign language.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You state a clear view that learning a foreign language is important, and you give a relevant benefit: it can help students study abroad and communicate in the language used there. However, the response addresses the task only partially. The question asks about potential benefits in general and whether language study belongs in education; the discussion focuses mainly on overseas study, while the claim that learners can teach others is unclear and not explained. The conclusion shifts to saying every person in a family should learn a language, rather than directly reinforcing its place in education. The response also contains 206 words, below the required 250. Develop several distinct benefits and support them with specific examples to address the task more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. The overseas-study example follows the point about access to courses, and phrases such as “To conclude” help signal the ending. However, progression between ideas is limited: the second body paragraph moves from communication to teaching others and then to children learning early without explaining how these points connect. Some linking is mechanical, as in “As we all know” and repeated use of “one can.” The opening comparison between educational systems is also not developed later. Organise each paragraph around one clear benefit, then use a specific explanation or example to connect its sentences and build a more consistent line of argument.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “foreign language,” “education system,” “native language” and “communicate,” so the main subject is generally clear. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unclear, such as “the importance is not given that much,” “teach to any other person” and “known to the native language.” Spelling errors such as “opnion,” “diffferent” and “peprson” also reduce accuracy and can distract the reader. Aim for more precise expressions for the benefits you discuss, and proofread carefully. Using terms such as “access to education,” “communicate effectively” and “cultural understanding” would help you explain a wider range of relevant ideas.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a conditional structure in “Without learning the national language … it would be difficult for a student to graduate.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences awkward or difficult to follow. For example, “children are compulsorily required to study … foreign language” has problems with article and number, while “The major benefits … is” has subject–verb disagreement. The opening sentence also shifts between singular and plural forms (“educational systems” and “other educational system”). Practise accurate agreement, articles and sentence boundaries, and check that each clause has a clear subject and verb. More controlled complex sentences would improve clarity.
