Student answer (Band 5.5)

In this chaning generational time, everything getting better and different for students. Now they have opportunities to getting knowledge of variety of languages from different place. Some educational system students are required to learn new languages and some do not. This paragraph will discus both the points and will tell some benefits of learning new languages.

Some educational institute emphasize students to learn new languages because it will help them to getting in touch with overseas friends and the chance of getting jobs on overseas level will increase so students can earn more and give their family a good and wealthy life. For example,in India many student learn English and prepare for IELTS test to getting admission in Colleges where they can get better education and learn more which they cannot do in India because the education system is good in western countries like, Canada, USA and Australia and when students live in other countries they should know their language so that they can communicate better with teachers and make friends.

To compare with it, some educational system do not require to learn new languages as they believe if student see their future in their home country and they do not to move to other space so it is not fundamental and it just waste of time for them to learn new languages which they do not need in future.

In conclusion, I believe it should depends on student what they want to do in future so they can give time to their skills instead learning a language which has no use in their future.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address the topic by describing possible benefits, including communicating with people overseas and improving employment prospects, and you give a relevant example involving Indian students seeking education abroad. Your conclusion also states a position: language study should depend on a student’s future plans. However, the response only partly answers the question about whether foreign-language study is an important part of education. The opening promises to discuss both educational systems, but the comparison is brief, and the final view is conditional rather than fully explained. Develop the benefits beyond overseas study—for example, cultural understanding or access to information—and explain why these benefits do or do not make language learning important for all students.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph on benefits, a contrasting view, and a conclusion. The example about Indian students also follows naturally from the point about overseas education. However, progression is sometimes mechanical, with phrases such as “To compare with it” and repeated references to “some educational system.” The long example sentence contains several connected ideas, making the relationship between studying English, taking IELTS, and communicating abroad harder to follow. Use clearer transitions such as “By contrast,” and divide long sentences into shorter units. Ensure each paragraph develops one main point and that references such as “it” clearly identify the idea being discussed.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “overseas,” “communicate,” “education system,” and “fundamental.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes the meaning less natural. Examples include “getting knowledge of variety of languages,” “on overseas level,” and “give their family a good and wealthy life.” There are also spelling errors such as “chaning” and “discus.” Aim for more precise, natural phrases and check spelling carefully. Replacing repeated general wording such as “new languages” with terms like “foreign-language study” or “language skills” would also make the discussion more varied.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a conditional idea in the conclusion and a longer sentence explaining the overseas-study example. However, the longer structures are often difficult to control, and errors occur frequently enough to affect clarity. For instance, “everything getting better” needs a finite verb, while “students are required to learn” is followed by “it will help them to getting,” which has an incorrect verb pattern. There are also problems with agreement and sentence construction in “it should depends on student” and “they do not to move.” Practise accurate verb forms, articles, and subject–verb agreement, and break complex sentences into manageable clauses.
