Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both the benefits of learning another language and whether it should be part of education, and your position is clear in the opening: you strongly believe it should be mandatory. Career opportunities and cultural understanding are relevant benefits, with examples such as communication between companies and learning about French culture. However, the ideas remain limited and are not fully explained; for example, the career point repeats that companies work with foreign firms without showing in detail how language ability helps students’ future prospects. The conclusion is also missing, so your final view is not reinforced. The response contains 218 words, below the required 250, which limits the opportunity to develop your reasons and examples. Add a conclusion and extend each main point with a specific, explained example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic overall structure: an introduction followed by paragraphs on career benefits and cultural knowledge. This gives the reader a general sense of the two main points. However, progression within paragraphs is often difficult to follow because ideas are repeated or joined without clear relationships. For instance, the career paragraph moves from job interviews to company collaboration and then confidence, with little explanation connecting these points. Linking phrases such as “In addition” and “For instance” are useful attempts, but “Another, advantages” is inaccurate, and several sentences run together with missing spaces or punctuation. Use one clear topic sentence per paragraph, develop its point in a logical order, and add a separate conclusion to complete the argument.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “globalised world,” “career opportunities,” “communication,” “tradition,” and “customs.” These choices show awareness of the subject, but the usable range is limited and many spelling and word-choice errors make parts of the message difficult to understand. Examples include “foregein,” “compulsary,” “communcation,” and “calturas”; the repeated use of “foregine language” also makes the writing less precise. Some combinations are unnatural, such as “more confidence on communication skill” and “expand more knowleged.” Check spelling carefully and learn common collocations as complete phrases, such as “gain confidence in communicating” and “broaden knowledge of other cultures.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You make attempts to combine ideas using clauses and connectors, for example, “Because knowing about their tradition, history and customs” and “if learning foregine languages student have more confidence.” However, these attempts often produce incomplete or faulty sentences, and the range of sentence structures remains limited. Errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries frequently affect clarity: “learning foregein languages is provide” does not form a correct verb structure, while “other have a option” has agreement and article problems. Capitalisation and punctuation are also inconsistent, including the comma splice after “education system.” Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then add subordinate clauses, checking that every sentence has a subject and a complete verb.
