Student answer (Band 5.5)

In the contemporary era,it has been observed that the culture of learning foreign languages has increased as compare to past. In some countries it is mandatory to learn more than one languages in their educational courses. On the other hand, some countries believe it is not essential at all. If questioned on that one, I really believe that learning a foreign language is pivotal part of education systems. I support these type of learning systems. The reason for my inclination I will discussed in the upcoming paragraphs with valid reasons and appropriate examples.

Scrutinising the facts from the grassroots level, the foremost one is knowledge of more than one languages bring a more opportunities for career. On top of that multilingual and bilingual are suitable candidates for overseas education. For instance, in Germany, it is necessary to know German language for any kind of studies in Germany. Some places are paying more wages to a person who know multiple language. For example, one of the Arabic long-term care home in Canada is offering higher wages to a person who knows Arabic and English both. Moreover, including more than one languages in the study field will be helpful for better employment and financial growth too.

However, the downside should not be disregarded that it will create burden on children to study more. It will create negative impact on their childhood. They are becoming less productive and more stressful.

Bsed on the aforementioned reasoning, I still stand by my stance. According to me, it is really essential to learn more languages in your academical career. To add to this, it will bring more job opportunities and it will lead to financial growth.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both the benefits of learning languages and whether it belongs in education, and your position is clear: you consider it “a pivotal part” of education. The career and overseas-study examples are relevant, especially the German-study requirement and the care home in Canada. However, the benefits are developed mainly through employment and financial growth, while other potential benefits are not explored. The counterpoint about stress and reduced productivity is also asserted rather than explained, and you do not show how it should be weighed against the advantages. To strengthen the response, explain the examples more fully and develop a balanced conclusion that directly answers why language study is important despite its possible demands on children.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph on benefits, a paragraph acknowledging a drawback, and a conclusion. Linking expressions such as “On the other hand,” “Moreover,” and “However” help signal the direction of ideas. At times, though, the progression feels mechanical, and some links do not establish a clear relationship between claims. For example, the paragraph moves from career prospects to overseas education, wages, and financial growth without explaining how each point connects. The conclusion largely repeats the introduction and earlier claims. Improve cohesion by grouping related benefits, using clearer references to earlier points, and making the final paragraph synthesise the argument rather than restate it.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some topic-relevant vocabulary, including “multilingual,” “overseas education,” “employment,” and “financial growth,” and phrases such as “Scrutinising the facts” show an attempt to use a broader range. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, which makes parts of the argument less clear: “culture of learning foreign languages,” “more than one languages,” and “a more opportunities” are examples. “Bsed” is also a spelling error, and “academical career” is not the natural expression in this context. Aim for accurate, natural combinations rather than formal-sounding phrases. For instance, use “the study of foreign languages,” “multiple languages,” and “academic education.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a conditional opening (“If questioned on that one”) and a concession introduced by “However.” Nevertheless, errors in sentence structure, agreement, articles, and verb forms are frequent enough to make some sentences awkward or difficult to follow. Examples include “I will discussed,” “knowledge … bring,” and “a pivotal part of education systems.” The sentence beginning “The reason for my inclination” is also structurally incomplete or unnatural. Work on subject–verb agreement, verb forms after auxiliaries, and article use, and check punctuation spacing after commas. Building accurate shorter sentences first will help you express the more complex ideas reliably.
