Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays the craze to learn foreign languages in getting increases day by day. In some educational systems, childern are requried to study one or more foreign languages. In others, foreign language study is not requirement. There could be several benefits of foreign language study and in my opinion it is very important which I will discuss in the upcoming paragraphs.

To begin with, the first benefit is that children will know more about other country's culture and their tradition. For example, if a child learning the korean language so, they will take more interest in learning more about their culture and more about their technologies and other things which may be lead them to choose a career in those countries which help them in their future.

Furthermore, by teaching a foreign language in eductional system can help childern to become more confident in other countries. For instance, if a student learning english language in schools and they want to go abroad for higher studies they don't need to take special classes for that and they can live in taht country easily becasue they can communicate with them in their language.

In my opinion, foreign study is very important part of eductaion. Because it makes students more confient in that country and if they want to plan their future in those countries they can live easily there. In addition, it can gives them a break from their academic studies and they can feel relaxed and calm by learning something new everyday.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address both parts of the question: you identify benefits, including learning about other cultures and communicating more easily abroad, and you state that foreign-language study is important. However, the response is short of the required 250 words: it contains 236 words, and 14 words copied from the prompt were not counted. This limits the development of your ideas. The examples about learning Korean and studying abroad are relevant, but the links to career choices and future plans are asserted rather than explained. The point that language lessons provide a relaxing break is also introduced without support. To strengthen the response, explain how each benefit works and add a specific example, while making your position clear throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a coherent overall arrangement: an introduction is followed by two benefit paragraphs and a concluding opinion. Paragraphs generally focus on one main point, and signposts such as “To begin with,” “Furthermore,” and “In addition” help readers follow the sequence. However, the progression is somewhat mechanical, and some connections between ideas are unclear. For example, the first example moves from learning Korean to interest in technology and then to choosing a career abroad without explaining the steps between these points. The conclusion also repeats the idea of confidence and living abroad rather than drawing the benefits together. Use clearer referencing and develop the links between claims and examples to make the flow more natural.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “foreign languages,” “culture,” “higher studies,” and “communicate.” However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling, word-form, and collocation errors reduce precision, such as “craze to learn,” “in getting increases,” “foreign study,” and “feel relaxed and calm.” Repeated use of “important,” “country,” and “learning” also makes the expression less varied. Aim for more accurate phrases suited to the topic, such as “growing interest in learning foreign languages,” “foreign-language education,” and “interact with local people.” Proofread spelling carefully, particularly in words such as “education,” “confident,” and “because,” so the reader can focus on your ideas.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including conditional examples beginning “if a child…” and “if a student…”. However, complex structures are often faulty, and frequent errors in verb forms, articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries can make parts difficult to follow. For example, “if a child learning the korean language so, they will take” lacks a correctly formed conditional clause, while “it can gives them” uses an incorrect verb form. The sentence beginning “Because it makes students…” is also a fragment, and “by teaching a foreign language in eductional system can help” has no clear grammatical subject. Practise building complete sentences with accurate clause patterns, then check subject–verb agreement and articles.
