Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both sides of the question and give a clear overall view: convenience and enjoyment are benefits, while health and cost are drawbacks. Relevant supporting points include saving time for people with tight schedules, eating with family or colleagues, and possible hygiene problems. However, the advantages are developed more fully than some disadvantages, and the health discussion relies on a broad list of conditions rather than explaining how frequent reliance on these foods may contribute to them. The point about restaurants being used to display status is relevant but could be connected more clearly to the question. Develop each main idea with a specific explanation or example, and distinguish restaurant meals from packaged convenience food where their effects differ. The response meets the task’s length requirement; eight words copied from the prompt were not counted.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph on advantages, a paragraph on disadvantages, and a conclusion. The progression from convenience and social benefits to health and financial concerns is easy to follow. Linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “On the other hand,” and “As a result” help signal relationships between ideas, and this already gives the essay a coherent flow. To make cohesion more flexible and precise, avoid relying on a sequence of additive transitions and make the links between claims explicit. For example, explain how poor hygiene may lead to illness rather than moving directly from the claim to a list of conditions. Some references, such as “this type food,” are also unclear; use a precise noun phrase to help the reader track the topic.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of vocabulary, including “tight schedule,” “hygiene,” “financial burden,” and “detrimental effects,” and the meaning is generally understandable. There are also attempts at less common expressions, such as “highlighting their status,” although some combinations are not natural or precise. Spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable—for example, “home-coocked,” “slavoury,” “grave their meals,” and “occat ionally”—and at times they make the reader pause. Some terms are also too broad: “foreign and frozen food” does not clearly describe the range of restaurant and convenience meals. Work on accurate spelling and natural collocations, and choose vocabulary that distinguishes eating out from consuming packaged food.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a concession in “Although this trend has lots of merits” and a cause-and-effect sentence beginning “As a result.” Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “people … keen on food” needs a verb, “the food they served may be suitable” has an unclear tense and meaning, and “processed food are” has a subject–verb agreement problem. Articles and sentence patterns also need attention, as in “as the way of highlighting their status” and “in a limited manner.” Review agreement, verb forms, and article use, then proofread each sentence for a complete and natural grammatical structure. More accurate control of these patterns would make your complex sentences clearer.
