Student answer (Band 6.5)

It certainly cannot be denied that number of people who depend on restaurants and convenience food are increasing significantly. The benefits of ready made food are obvious as life has become easier and more convenient. However, some people feel that this trend is suitable for fast and working life, while others believes that it has many disadvantages. It surely is a debatable and both views seem to hold water. But before coming to a reasoned conclusion, let us discuss the both views.

On the one hand, there could be a myriad of reasons why some people say that eating from restaurants and frozen food is beneficial. To begin with, eating from outside or using the ready to eat food can save time of working individuals. What I means to say is by not cooking at home people can safe their time and utilize this time for doing some other essential work such as making their presentations and spending valuable time with their family. Another point worth considering is that if people eating from restaurants and frozen food it offers grater convenience and variety. According to an article published in 'The Tribune', a leading national newspaper in India, studies have shown that people who eat out often, have more knowledge of different cuisines rather than who eat home made food.

On the other hand, some might feel that rely on restaurants and convenience food is not good. They probably believe so because they think this type of food is cause of many health problems such as obesity and high blood pressure. According p recent survey, it is found that people who eat out often, face many diseases Furthermore, they also feel that eating out on daily basis is costly. For example, for middle class families it is not possible to eat in restaurants daily.

In conclusion, since both viewpoints hold water, it is difficult to favour one argument . But I do feel that some time eating out or using frozen food is good, but should be rely on these type of facilities.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses both the advantages and disadvantages of the trend. The position is clear, although the conclusion is slightly underdeveloped and grammatically unclear. The ideas are relevant, such as time-saving and variety for advantages, and health concerns and cost for disadvantages. However, the development of these points is somewhat basic. To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific, nuanced examples rather than general statements. For instance, instead of just mentioning 'obesity', you could briefly explain how the high sodium or fat content in processed meals contributes to long-term health issues.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. You use basic cohesive devices like 'To begin with', 'Another point worth considering', and 'On the other hand' to guide the reader. However, the flow is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions are repetitive. The referencing is generally clear, but the final sentence of the conclusion is disjointed and lacks a clear logical link to the rest of the paragraph, which affects the overall coherence of the ending.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'myriad', 'convenience', and 'cuisines'. However, there are several instances of awkward phrasing and minor errors, such as 'safe their time' (save) and 'rely on restaurants' (relying on). The vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning, but it lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. To improve, focus on collocations and ensure you are using the correct word forms in context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent errors in subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'others believes', 'people who eat out often, have') and article usage. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma placement. These errors do not generally impede communication, but they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, specifically ensuring that verbs agree with their subjects and that sentence fragments are avoided.
