Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both the advantages and disadvantages of relying on convenience food. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For instance, the discussion on health impacts is quite general and lacks specific, well-supported examples, relying instead on vague statements about 'heart-related diseases'. Furthermore, the conclusion is incomplete, which prevents a clear summary of the position. While the prompt is addressed, the lack of depth in the arguments and the unfinished nature of the final paragraph mean the response does not fully develop the ideas to a higher band level.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as the awkward transition 'Although, I am a proponent of latter viewpoint yet I will eloquent reasons'. There are also issues with sentence-level coherence, where ideas are sometimes linked in a way that is difficult to follow. The conclusion is abruptly cut off, which significantly impacts the overall flow and logical progression of the essay. More variety in linking words and better control over paragraph structure are needed.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and sophistication. There are several instances of incorrect word choice or awkward phrasing, such as 'notice dietary habits' (instead of 'noticeable changes in dietary habits'), 'balanced nutritions options' (instead of 'nutritious options'), and 'chelostroal' (spelling error). The range of vocabulary is limited, and the student struggles to use less common lexical items accurately. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequent errors in word formation and collocation prevent the response from reaching a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Examples include 'an increasing in individuals rely' (should be 'an increase in individuals relying'), 'the why people rely' (should be 'the reason why'), and 'which bad impacts on heart rate' (should be 'which has a bad impact'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While the errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to cause some difficulty for the reader and demonstrate a lack of control over complex structures.
