Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both the advantages and disadvantages of relying on convenience food. The ideas are relevant, such as time-saving benefits and health concerns. However, the development is somewhat limited. For instance, the point about 'improving skills' is mentioned but not explained, and the health arguments rely on generalisations about 'bacteria' and 'expired masalas' without deeper analysis. To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific, well-reasoned arguments that explore the implications of these trends more thoroughly. The position is clear, but the overall development of ideas remains at a basic level.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs for advantages and disadvantages, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'The first and foremost', 'Moreover', and 'On the other side'. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'To discuss this' and 'To explain this further'. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the sentence fragment starting with 'Which directly cause...' and 'Which directly leads to...'. Improving the flow between sentences by avoiding these fragments would enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on basic terms like 'so many', 'good', and 'bad'. There are also noticeable errors in word choice and form, such as 'loved once' (instead of 'loved ones'), 'eating restaurants food' (instead of 'restaurant food'), and 'health wise'. The use of 'bacteria's' is a pluralisation error. To improve, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensuring correct collocations, such as 'nutritional value' or 'hygienic standards' rather than repeating 'good' or 'bad'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('so many of individuals are depend'), incorrect verb forms ('gets more time', 'wants after'), and punctuation errors, particularly the misuse of full stops to create sentence fragments. For example, 'Which directly cause the food poisoning' is a dependent clause that should be connected to the previous sentence. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band score.
