Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both the advantages and disadvantages of relying on convenience food. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and relies on generalizations. For instance, the argument regarding 'chemical' use and 'germs' in fast food is scientifically vague and lacks specific, well-supported examples. While the prompt asks for reasons and examples, the points provided are quite brief and lack depth. The position is clear, but the essay would benefit from more detailed exploration of the social or economic implications of these dietary habits to reach a higher band score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or repetitive. Phrases like 'On the other hand' and 'To conclude it' are used, but the internal flow between sentences within paragraphs is sometimes disjointed. For example, the transition between the discussion of time-saving and the health risks in the second paragraph is abrupt. Additionally, some sentences are run-on or lack proper punctuation, which hinders the logical progression of ideas.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. The student relies on basic terms like 'helpful', 'harmful', and 'good'. There are also instances of awkward phrasing and word choice, such as 'dropping the human life spam' (likely meaning life expectancy) and 'we do not know what we getting on the table'. The range of vocabulary is limited, and there is a lack of collocation awareness, which prevents the essay from demonstrating a more sophisticated command of language.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('no one have time'), article usage ('in metro city'), and sentence structure (e.g., 'everyone is busy in their life doing lot of work to live some doing 2 jobs'). The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures, and attempts at complex sentences often result in punctuation errors or run-on sentences. The lack of control over basic grammar and syntax is a significant area for improvement.
