Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 189 words. Consequently, the development of ideas is significantly curtailed. While the essay identifies both advantages (time-saving, fitness) and disadvantages (health risks, chemical additives), the arguments are underdeveloped and lack sufficient supporting examples or depth. The conclusion is incomplete, cutting off mid-sentence, which indicates a failure to fully address the task requirements. To improve, you must expand your body paragraphs with specific examples and ensure the essay is completed in full.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay uses basic cohesive devices such as 'First and foremost' and 'On the other hand', which provide a rudimentary structure. However, the progression of ideas is hindered by the incomplete nature of the text. Paragraphing is attempted, but the final paragraph is unfinished, which disrupts the overall flow. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the lack of a coherent conclusion makes the logical progression of the argument difficult to follow. To improve, focus on linking sentences more fluidly and ensuring each paragraph has a clear, completed structure.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.5

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. There are frequent spelling errors such as 'contemporay' (contemporary), 'reather' (rather), 'disscuss' (discuss), 'wll' (well), 'camicals' (chemicals), 'increas' (increase), 'negtive' (negative), 'soses' (sauces), and 'ingreadites' (ingredients). These errors, combined with the use of informal phrasing like 'masses' and 'nawa dayes', restrict the range of vocabulary. To achieve a higher band, you need to focus on accurate spelling and use a wider variety of topic-specific vocabulary related to nutrition and lifestyle.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('masses love', 'these type of foods are be prepared'), incorrect article usage, and punctuation errors. The sentence structures are mostly simple, with limited attempts at complex sentences. The unfinished nature of the final sentence also leaves the grammatical structure incomplete. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and proofreading for common errors in tense and pluralization.
