Student answer (Band 6.0)
A large number of individuals prefer to eat from local restaurants, and they give importance to frozen or packed meals over home-cooked fresh meals. Although fast food offers variety in taste and saves people time, I believe it is detrimental to individuals health and affect them financially.
Nowadays, people have no time to cook food because of highly demanding jobs, and both parents need to do jobs to support their family. In order to save time they prioritize packaged meals or food from restaurants, as they consume less time and offers variety of cuisines as well. Furthermore, these fast foods offer variety in taste and they contain high sugary content which make them addictive. The food delivery options also make these fast fast food more accessible to everyone . For example, a recent survey in Pakistan concluded that there is a significant increase in number of new restaurants because of increase trend of eating outdoors.
On the other hand, these fast food are also concerning for an individual's health because a high proportion of chemicals are used to preserve canned foods. The local restaurants use low quality of ingredients and oils to save their cost that result in gastritis and increase number of food poisoning cases. Moreover, in order to eat healthy and high quality food people have to visit fancy restaurants, which cost them a lot of money. As a result of this, individuals spend a significant part of their earning on daily means. For example, an increase number of gastritis and irritable bowel syndrome cases are confirmed by doctors in Lahore due to an increase trend of eating fast food.
In conclusion, although canned and frozen food is more convenient and tasty, the harmful effects it has on an individual's health and money are very concerning. THer

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both the advantages and disadvantages of relying on convenience food. The position is clear from the introduction and maintained throughout. Ideas are relevant and supported with examples, such as the mention of a survey in Pakistan and health issues in Lahore. However, the development is somewhat uneven; the discussion on the 'advantages' is slightly repetitive regarding 'variety' and 'time-saving'. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is fully explored with more depth rather than listing similar benefits. The conclusion is incomplete, which is a minor omission, but the overall task requirements are met effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, with a distinct introduction, body paragraphs for advantages and disadvantages, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'On the other hand', and 'As a result of this' are used to guide the reader. However, the flow is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions feel repetitive. Additionally, the essay ends abruptly with 'THer', indicating an unfinished conclusion. While the paragraphing is appropriate, the lack of a completed final sentence slightly impacts the overall coherence and the sense of progression toward the end of the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express ideas clearly. There is an attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'gastritis', 'irritable bowel syndrome', and 'packaged meals'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'do jobs' instead of 'work' or 'have careers', and 'fast fast food' (a repetition error). Some phrases are slightly simplistic, but the meaning is always clear. To improve, focus on more precise collocations and avoid repetitive phrasing to demonstrate a wider, more flexible range of vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While many sentences are clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('these fast food are', 'these fast foods offer variety... and they contain'), and missing articles ('increase number of', 'increase trend'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some inconsistencies. The errors do not impede communication, but they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Increasing the variety of complex structures while ensuring closer attention to basic grammatical accuracy would significantly improve the score.
