Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The essay addresses both the advantages and disadvantages of relying on convenience food. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you provide personal examples, such as ordering food on an app, these are anecdotal and could be expanded with more general analysis to better meet the requirements of a formal essay. The position is clear, but the arguments lack depth; for instance, the health consequences mentioned are quite general. To improve, ensure that each point is fully explored with broader implications rather than relying solely on personal experience.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices like 'To begin with', 'Further shifting towards', and 'In conclusion'. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the use of linking words is repetitive. Additionally, some referencing is slightly unclear, and the punctuation—specifically the spacing around parentheses and periods—is inconsistent, which occasionally disrupts the flow of the text. Improving the variety of transition signals and ensuring consistent punctuation would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for a higher band. You use basic terms like 'merits', 'demerits', and 'harmful chemicals'. There are some errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'make the life more easier' (should be 'makes life easier') and 'serious health issues like lungs problem' (should be 'lung problems'). To achieve a higher score, try to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to nutrition, lifestyle, and food industry practices, and pay closer attention to pluralization and word forms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('eating something give me energy'), article usage ('in brampton 2 indian restaurant'), and tense consistency ('i have placed 18 orders... last month'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be noticeable. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles, before attempting more complex structures.
