Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both the advantages and disadvantages of relying on convenience food. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the argument regarding international students is a bit anecdotal and could be better linked to the broader theme of time management. While the position is clear, the supporting points lack depth and rely on generalizations. The conclusion is a bit repetitive and does not fully synthesize the arguments presented. To improve, ensure that each point is fully explored with more detailed reasoning or specific examples rather than just stating the point.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the argument. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'In this...' or 'There are...'. The transition between ideas within paragraphs could be smoother; for example, the jump from discussing international students to family bonding feels slightly abrupt. Paragraphing is present, but the internal structure of the paragraphs could be more cohesive to ensure a better flow of information throughout the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are some errors in word choice, such as 'bog example' (likely a typo for 'big') and '50% depended on' (should be 'dependent'). The phrasing is often simplistic, relying on basic descriptors. To reach a higher band, you should aim to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary and collocations related to nutrition, lifestyle, and time management, while ensuring that spelling and word forms are accurate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Examples include punctuation errors (e.g., comma splices like '...less time, There is...'), subject-verb agreement issues ('packaged food are'), and awkward phrasing ('we may can face'). While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focusing on sentence boundary control and ensuring correct verb forms will significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
