Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While the essay addresses both advantages and disadvantages, the arguments are underdeveloped and lack depth. For instance, the discussion on the benefits of convenience food is limited to a brief mention of busy lifestyles, and the disadvantages are supported by vague, anecdotal references rather than clear, logical reasoning. The position is clear, but the lack of sufficient length prevents a full exploration of the topic, resulting in a partial response to the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes inaccurate, such as the repetitive use of 'for example' and 'each and every'. The progression of ideas is often disjointed, particularly in the conclusion, which introduces new, slightly confusing phrasing like 'it is determined for every ones'. Paragraphing is present but the transitions between ideas are not always smooth, making the overall flow feel somewhat fragmented.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. There are frequent spelling errors, such as 'depand', 'benificial', 'tedy', and 'distroy', which occasionally impede readability. The student relies on basic vocabulary and struggles to use more precise or academic terms. Phrases like 'World number one doctor sunil raj sir' are informal and inappropriate for an IELTS essay. To improve, the student needs to expand their range of vocabulary and focus on accurate spelling and word choice to convey ideas more effectively.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('people who does not have time', 'home food is play vital role') and incorrect sentence structures. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after periods and commas. While there is an attempt to use complex sentences, they are often faulty, leading to a lack of clarity. The majority of the sentences contain errors, which restricts the range and accuracy of the writing. A focus on basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors is essential.
