Student answer (Band 6.0)

In recent years consuming restaurants and frozen food and packaged meals are increasingly high instead of home cooked meals. In my opinion it has a great disadvantages.

In the one hand, restaurants and convenience food use preservatives and the quality of oil and spices are not up to the mark. For larger profits they use cheap ingredients which could be harmful for our health. It could cause obesity, heart disease, PCOD, eye problem and digestive problems. Moreover, now a days people have less time to cook meals as their busy daily schedule so they find those foods are convenient and easy to assess by various food apps. Sometimes it really easy to go have those kind of foods. But it should not be a habit for regular consumption. Although, the disadvantages are much greater than advantages.

On the other hand, home cooked meals are hygienic and healthy. If people can not cook various items for their meal they can prepare some one pot meals. Now a days, many YouTube tutorials provide easy meal plans which could consume minimum time to prepare.

In my perspective, people should be aware about the problems. Government could take an important role to cope with the issue. By striking various attractive adds, posters it could be controlled. Schools should enlisted about healthy diet in their syllabus. more campaign should be done for awareness of controlling restaurant foods.

In conclusion, I could say home cooked food is always best option to be healthy. However, sometimes restaurant can be option to celebrate any special occasion. But it should be limited for better health issue.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both the advantages and disadvantages of eating out and consuming convenience foods. However, the treatment of the two sides is somewhat unbalanced. The disadvantages are detailed well with points regarding health issues, whereas the advantages are limited mainly to convenience and easy access via apps. Furthermore, the writer's position is stated as having 'great disadvantages,' yet the essay still attempts to present both sides. The ideas are generally relevant, but some supporting points, such as government intervention and school syllabi, drift slightly into general advice rather than directly answering the prompt's focus on the pros and cons. Overall, the task is addressed adequately, placing it at Band 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with clear paragraphing separating the introduction, disadvantages, advantages, solution/opinion, and conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes faulty or mechanical. For example, transitional phrases like 'In the one hand' and 'Although, the disadvantages are much greater than advantages' are used incorrectly or disrupt the logical flow. Referencing can also be unclear, such as 'those foods' or 'those kind of foods' without precise antecedents. Despite these mechanical errors, the progression of ideas is discernible, which satisfies the requirements for Band 5.5 to 6.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, with attempts at less common lexical items such as 'preservatives,' 'convenience food,' and 'hygienic.' However, there are notable word choice and collocation errors throughout the text, such as 'consuming restaurants' instead of 'eating out at restaurants,' 'eye problem' instead of 'vision problems,' and 'striking various attractive adds' instead of 'launching attractive advertisements.' Spelling and morphological errors, such as 'enlisted' instead of 'include' or 'enlist,' also occur. These errors do not completely impede communication, pointing solidly to a Band 5.5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional structures like 'If people can not cook... they can prepare...' and concessive clauses. However, grammatical accuracy is inconsistent. There are frequent errors in prepositions, article usage, and verb forms, such as 'are increasingly high instead of' and 'food are convenient and easy to assess' (where 'access' was likely intended). Punctuation and sentence boundaries occasionally need refinement. While communication is rarely fully obscured, the frequency of grammatical slips keeps the score at Band 5.5.
