Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.5

The response attempts to address both the advantages and disadvantages of eating restaurant and convenience food compared to home-cooked meals. However, the development of ideas is limited and disjointed. While the writer mentions health concerns, hygiene, and convenience regarding restaurants, and fresh ingredients and disease prevention regarding home-cooked food, many of these points are repetitive and underdeveloped. Sentences such as 'The cooking food of resturant is easily buy' and 'The home-cooked food is also many benefits' show an effort to cover the prompt, but the lack of clear progression and extended support keeps the task response at a lower level. The position is sometimes unclear, particularly in the conclusion where the ideas become confused. Consequently, this performance aligns closely with Band 4.5 descriptors.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

Coherence and cohesion are severely compromised throughout the text. The response lacks effective paragraphing, as ideas are jumbled together into a few erratic blocks of text rather than distinct paragraphs for advantages, disadvantages, and the conclusion. Cohesive devices are either missing, inadequate, or repetitive, with excessive reliance on basic connectors like 'Some times', 'Now a days', and 'And'. Furthermore, referencing is frequently unclear, leading to disjointed flow. For instance, transitioning abruptly from restaurant disadvantages to home-cooked food ('On the other hand Home cooked to supply most of their meals') impedes readability. Overall, the structural organization falls below the requirements for Band 5, reflecting a Band 4 level.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, frequently constrained by spelling and word-choice errors. Throughout the text, words are misspelled repeatedly, such as 'resturants' instead of restaurants, 'hygenic' instead of hygienic, 'vomting' instead of vomiting, and 'convienient' instead of convenient. The lexical range is limited and minimally adequate for conveying very basic thoughts, but frequent errors in word formation and collocation ('is easily buy', 'food items in home is fresh cooked') cause noticeable strain for the reader. There is an inability to use less common vocabulary accurately, placing the lexical resource firmly within the Band 4 descriptor category.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The grammatical range is extremely limited, relying almost entirely on simple sentence structures that are frequently faulty. There are major errors in basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and tense usage. Examples include 'The waiters are not cleaned their hands Properly', 'Some mothers are making food which are hygenic', and 'Home made cooked is very healthy.' Complex structures are rarely attempted, and when they are, they contain persistent errors that frequently distort meaning or impede communication. Punctuation and capitalization are also erratic throughout the text. This performance demonstrates consistent grammatical breakdown, fitting the Band 4 descriptors.
